out of nowhere a radio signal started coming though my amp.
I have peavey viper 15 watt, with a bugera 5 watt next to it.
so I switched amps and still get the radio in both. I am running though a
pedal board. this just started out of out of nowhere so might it just go away?
I did a search and this seems to be common.

First thing to check is your guitar cord. A bad or lousy (cheap) shielding wrap can let this happen.

Are you outlets grounded properly? Since you said it just happened, prolly not this. But this is the source for ALL grounds down wind in the chain including your amp and guitar. It must be good and you must use it with a proper 3 pin plug.

Did someone just install a ham radio set or something similar in the area?

That would explain the startup and bleed through.

It will take a bit more doing to protect against that.

Start with the cord. Get a good one. try it again.

    My 2 cents!

Funny, this brought me back 30 years to a diary entry I made when I was 15:

"My amp is suddenly picking up a broadcast from the Christian Science Monitor. Is this a sign from God?"

It never happened again, that I can remember, and I never figured out what caused it.

what wah wah pedal do you have in your board? try taking that out of your signal chain first.

a cry baby mini. I just took it off my board and it worked !!!!!!
no more radio you rock nye. I was not going to post this because there are
    so many search results .
but I gave it a shot you came though. what makes a wah do this?
funny thing is I did try better cables, they cleared up some hiss and buzz.
and made the radio signal clearer.

I live right near some radio towers. I had one guitar (out of 8) that would do this with one station. It was a early 90's G&L ASAT with the large MDF pickups. I shielded the guitar and it went away. It would freak me out when it would happen - playing along at a reasonable volume and suddenly creepy voices...

    Hey, no problem!

It's the inductor in the wah, they sometimes act like an antenna and pick up radio signals - especially with the wah engaged and toe down. Dunlop sells a shield that you can install around the inductor that grounds to the board through one of the screws.

I've heard an outtake from a Miles Davis record where he was using an envelope wah on his trumpet and started picking up radio signals during a quiet moment and he started improvising along with the song that was coming through. Pretty rad!

I used to get Mexican radio all the time. No big deal. Entertainment between songs. Maybe that’s where Wall of Voodoo got the inspiration from.

I play SS now, so no more Mexican radio

I had 2 incidents similar to this back in the early 90's
    1st
I was practicing and I could hear a lady taliking on her phone. I couldn't hear the other person though. I just sat there and listened for about 10 minutes.

    2nd
I lived fairly close to a very busy trucking route. I'm playing away and I heard this pissed off trucker's voice plain as day come over my amp yelling "turn that f**king radio down" so i stopped playing. Then i started playing again and he started yelling again!! He could hear me playing!! I started yelling at him by talking over my pickups!! "F**k you!!" I said lol he said he was going to report me lol

Strange how his cb was picking up my guitar and amp.

Had to be running a linear amp to boost the signal. No legal CB would do this.

As a signal booster on the CB. They used to run well up into the hundreds of watts, where only 40 watts was legal.
