I looked at a Strat today and was a bit confused and itchy...

In the tremolo cavity there is a factory router hole as under strat pickguards on top.

The guitar is presented to be Am but I have my doubts about that and if even a real Fender.

Anybody got deets on a router hole in the trem cavity?

The hole is under the center spring and is pretty much like size as the holes under pickguard that will ID Mex body, etc...

I even googled trem cavities images and saw zero pics with a router hole in back...

    Somebody give up da deets...

    edro.

The hole in the trem cavity is new to me, also the ground wire looks to be in an odd position. And what's that other hole behind the trem claw?

Do you have any pics of the whole front and back of the body?

Any ink stamp or appear sticker in neck cavity?

What's the straight line below and parallel to the claw?

It is in a Bud's pawn shop. He brings his guitars to my shop for work. What he was told by seller what not what I saw. My little itchy hairs on my neck fired up when I picked it up and started looking. That hole mystified me... Well there was several issues I shared with him. I was curious if anybody has seen a real Fen body with that hole there.

Now that I see this on a PC, instead of phone... I call fake. That line I mentioned looks like a router line.

As mentioned, the ground wire comes through from the wrong spot. These holes are from the screws of a 6-screw-trem poking through.

That was another issue. It had a six on it but the outside two screws were not in it and I could see half of former holes in the wood, not lined up. I didn't think Fen body either. Birds neck was nice but frets were bigger than any fret I had seen on a Fen neck. Looked like bass frets. Played great though...
