Hi there from oz, i'm wondering if it is possible to convert one of those es lp's with no f-holes into a 54 GT type spec, P90's wrapover tail piece etc and who could do it. Thanks Staffy

Gold is a type of paint that will tell you straight away if you've filled any holes.....like from regular t/p studs for example.

Thanks for that, I didn't take that into consideration at all. I have one '54 RI already and was thinking that a hollow one would be kind of unique, may have to try and get one made. Thanks again.

Even with wood plugs and the grain filler, sanding filler and primer?

    Yikes,

The reason In was asking is that I have an all mahogany faded LP that I plan on refinishing on gold and I am filling in some holes in it.

I will probably still do it but will set my expectations low.

The issue with mahogany will be the sinkage. That pic I showed never had the dowel mark obvious until the finish was starting to cure. Of course the gold is one of the early coats which means you almost need to have your basecoat cured and levelsanded before you apply even the colour.
There was another goldtop top-only conversion/refin I did at the same time which I knew would have some marks in it. I thought I'd rid the top of most of them, but the same thing happened - this was a relic finish anyhow so there was no issue for me.
