Mine was. I know this is a Les Paul forum, but I prefer my McCarty '58 to any of the 5 Custom Shop Historic LPs I've owned, which cost just as much by the way.

    Beautiful guitar. :)

I dont understand the price point people keep bringing up. If you are comparing production PRSs to production Gibsons, there is simply no comparison. You HAVE to go Gibson custom shop to even approach the quality of a production PRS, and then you are spending MORE $$$, not less, and still getting an inferior product as far as build quality is concerned. To my ear, and again I know this is subjective, a Production PRS simply sounds much better in all areas than any production Gibson. Once you go Custom shop, its very close, and a matter of taste, but then you can also go PRS Private stock, and you simply cant find anything that is better. At that point, its all built exactly how YOU want it. The build quality is as good as it can get, as are the materials used, so its up to you. My Private stocks are exquisite instruments built to my specifications. I have never played anything that sounded or played better. :)

I don't know guys...the single vol control and the single tone control is like a wooden leg with a kickstand on it.

...and I can't believe I have to say this again: who the F ever thought those birds look good? The little moons look great.

    Ok, sorry Miss...

...what I meant to say is "how could any guy want those birds on their guitar?"

The bird inlays are a matter of personal taste, as is the single volume and tone control. I can get more tones out of my guitars with a volume and tone for each pup, but find it to be too much fiddling to use at live gigs. I do see the advantage of the dual controls for recording, however.

I love the dual vol/tone of a Gibson harness, for the middle position. I loke the idea of a master volume knob for doing swells and quick changes.

But those birds are just too much bling.

I love the birds. My favorite inlays ever. (Well...Celtic knots are a top favorite for me, too.) The simpler controls are nice for some players, too.

Personally, my standard wiring package uses four push-pull pots. Two volumes and two tones. The tone controls pull to tap out one coil. The volume controls pull to turn the regular series wired humbucker into a parallel wired humbucker.

I like the birds too. And at your gigs, nobody will notice what sort of fretboard inlays you have. Nobody will even notice what make of guitar you are playing. They will only notice how you play and sound to them.

With that in mind, I think I will take my PRS SE.

How could anyone not want them? ;) Seriously, as you are well aware, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and anything that makes you want to pick up a guitar more often is a good thing. The birds do that for me. They also make guitars with moons, but they remind me of a guy hanging one. :D I also LOVE the "birds in flight", and if I can ever afford another PS, thats what I would get. Buy the way, had a chance to put a Mccarty right alongside a 50s LP yesterday. PRS all the way for me. :dude:

I read this thread with great interest last night.
On it's inception, it made me pull up a McCarty I own but very seldom play.
Never in my life have I seen such a level of immaturity as displayed by the OP.
I'm happy that things on the 'net don't disturb me, but I was actually angry for the
    first seven pages.
Kudo's to Joey for his incredible patience, standing ovation for mmd and rjwilson for finally getting through.

    Logan Ash huh?

maybe the mods could change his name to the more appropo'

    Log in Ass.
