yeah but are they really worth the money ... are they that great of quality and sound amazing ??

I'm interested because I tried a PRS Mira and I found the pickups were not even as clear or articulate and as ballsy as my Hagstrom which was only 600 and this PRS was like 2 grand with tax

At the same time I really want a PRS studio

    1) "and this PRS was like 2 grand with tax"

    Shop somewhere else.

    2) "At the same time I really want a PRS studio"

Mira = Studio = like Apples = pears.

I got a PRS SE 245 on the Black Friday sale for $349, and it is totally sweet. I stays in tune perfectly, the intonation is right on and it is smooth and easy to play on the fretboard, a very nice guitar normally priced at $619.

US-made PRS are all extremely expensive -- whether or not it's worth it is up to the buyer. If $3000 is your life savings, then it's probably not worth it and you'd be better off with an SE series. But if you can afford it then yes.

I have an SE Marsden. I bonded with it immediately upon picking it up at guitar center. It felt so right. I've swapped out the neck pickup with a more P90ish humbucker and the thing is ballsy as hell now. Amazing guitar for the price I paid ($550)

I like the SE 245 very much, not as thin/light as some of the other SE's which is ok by me, since I like a beefier guitar so it is not too bright. I wanted a nice warm/deep full tone and definitely got that with this guitar. I took the 9's off and had it setup with 10's which made a big difference to me. I just won't pay the big bucks for some of the American made, when you can get a totally sweet Korean made one that plays and feels almost just as good and keeps $2000 in your pocket.

yeah that is kind of my view on guitar gear too.. I just buy whatever feels good and sounds good to me...I do own some boutique stuff but I love my classic vibe squier tele custom just as much as any of my other guitars even more then some 4 times its price so it goes to show made in USA is not the seal of greatness

    Your decision, man.

You're not posting like someone who really has an endorsement.

The USA-made PRSes have more contoured bodies, cutouts for knobs, higher grade materials, etc. If you ignore all the cosmetic differences between the SEs and the USAs, you get two very similar guitars. Obviously the USA ones have better electronics/pickups/hardware, but the SE's aren't too bad either. The original SE245 pickups are good, and the pots that came with it were Alphas (I was surprised), which is a well known brand (of pots!).

Basically it's the same thing as choosing between an Epi Standard and a Gibson Custom Shop. They're pretty similar, it just comes down to the finer details.

    Are Gibby's worth the money?

If you put any guitar in your hands and it makes you want to play, and play well and you like it, yes.

PRS gets shat for being viewed as plastic and lifeless by some, but if you like them, DEWIT.

in my opinion, yes, PRS are worth the money - both the SE and the USA. each line offers amazing quality for their price range.

IMO, the SEs and the US made PRSs like the Custom 22s and Custom 24s are not even close. The US made guitars are FAR superior in every way, especially tonally. Just not even close. I have had many side by side, and to me, the USA models sound infinitely better.
