I f****** love the binding color on these 2017s. What a nice guitar that is. I hope, we'll see many Les Pauls like this over the next few years from Gibson.

Thank you for your comment. I really like the burst. Kind of like a cross between bourbon burst and tobacco fade, but not as dark and not as red. I have 2016 r8 lemon burst I'll post later.

Those Chicago Music Exchange exclusives are great looking guitars! CME is doing it right. Has anyone noticed the shape and aging of the ABR's on those? Very nice. The Gibson logo on the headstock is nicely aged like the TH's and the aged lacquer on the binding looks great! The 2017's definitely have something over the 13/14 and 2016's for sure.

@Microdot can we see more pictures of that beauty!? Is the color on the back of the neck a little faded compared to the rest of the back? I also love that about the 2017's I've seen.

Yes the back of the neck is the same color but a touch faded compared to the rest? (it's subtle) Overcast is the best time to take pictures! Get out there!

Thanks for the pics @Microdot! Especially the one with the 2016 R8 in it also. It confirms what I'd witnessed. The 2017's plastics, binding, ABR shape and Gibson logo on the headstock are all improved over the 13/14 and 2016 reissues. And yes the color on the back of the neck on the 2017 is slightly faded compared to the rest of the back. Giving it even more of the nice worn in feel. There's definitely more to these 2017's than people initially gave them credit for! Beautiful guitars!

You can really see the difference with the guitars side by side. I had no idea about the back of the neck till you pointed it out, so that's a bonus.

Here's a picture of the headstock.

Yes! The ambered Gibson logo I mentioned. Has been brought over from the TH line. Looks great!

The 2017's are AMAZING! I had previously owned a dozen or so Les Paul's over the years, about half of them Historics. The newest I had tried was a 2013, the rest were older than that. They were decent guitars, but none blew me away. Upon the recommendation of many guitar friends, I tried some newer ones, mostly 2017's. They have all been incredible, in tone, feel, and fit and finish.

Here in the order I purchased them, first 9 1007 from the Tom Murphy Limited Run. Handpicked from several from my trusted guys at Wildwood:

Then a Dark Cherry Sunburst M2M VOS R9:

    Then a Slow Iced Fade M2M R9:

Killer top on that one!! Actually that one is off to Kim and Team at Historic Makeovers for a Deluxe Makeover in Dirty Lemon Burst. :)

4th one, saving the the best for last - CC #44 - Happy Jack. Mindblowing guitar, best guitar I have ever owned, I love it!
