So the one good coat of Odie's is enough protection? I'm seriously contemplating it for the build I have going on now, just a little trigger shy given the price

It's as much protection as any other oil I've tried...so not a whole lot, but that's just how it goes with oil.

    Thats sweet Andrew.
Well both are sweet, but too many strings for me to know what to do with. I can barely play 6.

Usually I'm torn when I see a new Jack Briggs guitar, because as much as I love the high quality of the craftsmanship, I'm not a fan of the headstock design.
This heather metallic semi however is just so bloody cool I cannot but admire it.
    Brilliant job.

Hello, this is my first post here, please bear with me...
Since this is a "Les Paul" forum, I thought I could post my attempt at building one.
I call it "Les Diaz" since Diaz is my name. Never mind the "brand" name (Lagui), that's something that looked cool 10 years ago.

Actually I have an original Les Paul case since 30 years ago and I wanted to fill it with a decent guitar, so I decided to build this one. I had some material lying around and some plans, so there we go.

The guitar body is made from "Jatoba", a tropical wood which is quite heavy and resonant.
I chambered it as much as I dared to, still, this is a heavy guitar: 6 kg.

On top of the Jatoba body I dropped a carved maple top made from 3 pieces.
The neck is 3 pieces made with maple and rosewood (the center stripe is actually an accoustic side blank!). I am not good at scarf joints so I prefered to use the more robust three pieces approach.

Hardware is Gotoh or similar, no fancy stuff there, and the pickups are modern Gibson Brustbucker Pro.

The finish is an "accident": it started as a sunburst, I lay down the base color, though about it and decided to keep it as it was. Actually most of the color comes from the clear coats which were not so clear :)

I must say that this build was surprisingly easy, I didn't have real plans, just extrapolated from some Internet-found drawings. So probably the dimensions aren't fully correct.
Anyway the result has been fantastic, great playability and sound, lot's of punch and sustain. I can also use it for soft sounds like subtle saturations in Blues or Jazz environments.

Thank you. It's a standard long tenon, except with an extra mating face at the back...if that makes sense!

(In a most Mrs. Doubtfire type accent) Oh, Heavens! I should think that I'm not doing my job properly, then! My aim is to inspire, not deflate! As I have been inspired by so many over the decades, I only hope that others may too find inspiration to try things outside of their comfort zones. As for the photography, a $500 Nikon helps - as does the $500 studio setup (and tripod). Composition and clarity play a large part, but, what it all really comes down to is "lighting, lighting and lighting!"

Thanks very much for the comments!

    cheers,
