I never get tired of looking at this guitar.
An Apollo Junior for Eddie Martinez:
Thanks for looking!
Love it! Same specs and dimensions as a 335?
Beautiful guitars Jack Briggs!
Smaller than 335 - 14.5" lower bout, a tad wider than a 339.
I built this one for my newborn son. Oldgrowth and darn old cuban mahogany, her name is Pixiedust
I guess you'll just have to take care of it till your son is old enough to play
My latest weekend warrior project finally coming to a close.
Pretty much my idea of the perfect Goldtop.
Unbound neck, just like the very first '52's, P-90's, a stinger headstock, 'cause hell yes.
This is gorgeous!
oh my. captivating. attentioin to detail and execution couldn't be better. well done, my friend.
I've never been a fan of goldtops, but this kinda makes me want one anyway. Beautiful work
MLP member for six years, and hanging around here regularly for about two years ... and now I can finally post a bona fide "guitar I built!" I've been tweaking, customizing, repainting, reshaping and repairing guitars (before I even started playing!) for almost ten years, but this is local wood, my design, my blood/sweat/tears (literally!) ... and it works!
I want to thank @Barnaby, @Skyjerk, @Freddy, @LtDave32, @fatdaddypreacher, and a whole lotta others for direct and indirect encouragement and instruction.
Hope I can post here again soon!
Congrats man! First of many
It turned out beautifully! Really great job coming up with your own thing.
Putting the finishing touches on this one. First attempt at doing a les paul and burst, finish was done with aerosol can nitro, body only. Neck has a tru-oil finish
job well done, kind sir. now that you are properly hooked, we want more, m-o-r-e, MORE!!!!
Definitely not a traditional instrument by any means, but I took a lot of inspiration from classic Explorers and added my own twisted aesthetic.
26.5-28" multiscale 8 string
Figured black limba body
Katalox neck with carbon reinforcement
Ebony fretboard with super jumbo stainless wire
Instrumental Electromagnetics SFTY3-8 pickup set
Hipshot hardware, nickel plated
Odie's Oil finish
So the one good coat of Odie's is enough protection? I'm seriously contemplating it for the build I have going on now, just a little trigger shy given the price
