hello all, I just got my guitar that I bought from yahoo japan. It's serial number is 102285 which says it's made in 2010. But what LS-xxx model is that? and also what pickups does it have?

    Thanks!

It's hard to tell with newer model Tokais because there are so many models. I'd say, given the fact that this is a 2pc. back, it has to be under an LS140. I'm not familiar enough with modern Tokai specs to know if there are any other lower models that have a 1pc, but I know that the LS140 does and the LS128 doesn't.

With that said, I can almost guarantee that those pickups, if stock, are PAF Vintage MK2s. I wouldn't pay more than $800USD for it, and that's if it's an LS128; there's the potential it could be even lower. Does anyone know the lowest model number produced in Japan back in 2010? LS98?

It should be LS92 plaintop, LS98F flametop.

Just for future reference Thomas, what differentiates a 128F from, say a 98F? The tuning machines and pickups are the same, and they both use 2pc. backs. I've always been confused with modern Tokai numbering. IIRC 160/173 and up has nitro lacquer, am I right on that front?

Yes, LS98F is today the LS128F. LS173 is now LS186.

    Thanks for the replies guys!

"It should be LS92 plaintop, LS98F flametop." - what do you mean by two model numbers?

So my guitar is LS92 plaintop, right? I guess that's the lowest model? How much does it worth?

Yes, it's a LS92 and it might be worth 600-800 USD.

Don't think of it as the "lowest", think of it as the baseline - these are good guitars!

Yes, it's a perfectly good LP. Some call it entry level but I think it's easily on par with a Traditional.
