Yup, and a load of pics. The other band had their 'photographer/videographer' there and there's supposed to be some good footage. Promise to post and then pander for likes.

when i was in the band Atlanta. we did a concert in northern michigan at a hockey arena, they put plywood over the ice for the audience and we froze our butts off doing an hour ans a half show... my string bends hurt like hell. i always will remember it.

I think there might be something to this. My Gibson has a thin satin finish and couldn't hold tuning for a whole song, whereas my poly-encrusted Northern stayed in tune for two to three songs at a time. :dunno:

These are the kind of gigs when I appreciate tube amps the most. My left hand is always back there between songs.

yup in some ways Poly is a superior finish, which it's supposed to be.

(don't tell anyone, some Gibson owners get really upset. )

    :laugh2:

I like them both just fine, poly and nitro,..but nitro has it's issues,..but,..so can poly (it chips and isn't easily repairable.)

One night my friend, Chris Kickster , and I went to see Reverend Horton Heat. He was so good we went back to our garage and jammed. It was not heated. Probably 30 or so degrees. I played with driving gloves on. We both STUNK........ ........very good times.

Wow man, 36F? I used to have to rehearse in a garage with barn doors and one of those stinky horizontal jet heaters and I doubt the place ever got much above 45F. I had to use a crappy guitar because I'd never expose one of my good guitars to that. Those rehearsals would be after work, so I'd have to bring the guitar with me and leave it in my car all day (I couldn't bring it into where I worked). That was always a problem because whether it was 40F or 100F the guitar had to stay in the car all day.

But anyway, I cannot imagine playing anything very well on a guitar at a few degrees above freezing.

These are the first clips to surface. Very rough iPhone vids, but kinda cool, taken from atop the hay bleachers. Second and third clip feature my friend Karen on vox, I am shamed. She's the real deal. Her voice don't give a shit that it's a crappy mic recording the action, goddamn she punches through.

Jeebus NG in Montreal we're now having the summer we didn't have !
Been like high 20's for the last 2 weeks.
Pool water temp 70. Went swimming yesterday!
Aside from the cold sounds like a real cool ( no pun intended ) venue.
    BP
p.s.. Just caught up on the thread and see that you guys are also getting a late summer.!!

Panda, it's been unreal. We rented a cottage for a week in July and got one day of heat. The rest was rain and mosquitoes. But it's been hot for the last two weeks. Hit 30C/86F today.

Thank, Frank! There are a few vids above, but we hope to be getting some better ones from the other band's photographer.

Sounds great Northern Guy. Lucky to be gigging and doing something that you love. I'm getting another band together now after about a 10 year hiatus from my previous band. Hope to have our first gig soon, already people asking.

My old band played an outdoor "Toys for Tots" event one December years ago (I'm in central Florida) and it happen to hit the 40's F that night. Very cold but we had a great time, my kids were in town from college and caught our gig.

I'll never forget that night and I heard that the event raised 17k for the kids not counting all the toys that were donated. A great experience despite the cold (for us Floridians).

I feel a little better reading this. I used to play in this guys basement. We started doing it in the winter and I suddenly figured out that I don't play well with cold fingers. The cigar finger comment made the most sense to me!

Yes NG still going on here!~ Like you said it's unreal. About 3 weeks of constant blue skies and heat. ( Blue Skies & Heat is the name of my upcoming CD !! LOL )
Today will be the last day of swim weather though 'cause tomorrow Fall arrives with single digit temps at night although the sun will be with us right thru to next week.
Now back to General Hospital. lol
