Pickups Or Guitar Doing The AC Hum Thing

    Not sure about the metal plate. There does seem like there is enough room for one. I think the guitar is all original. Don't know if someone tinkered with it or not.

    I'm in upstate NY near the Vermont line. I bought the guitar from a respected online dealer, so I have no complaints with that source. I"ve owned it about 7 years. My 2000 Classic though does have a metal plate.

    Correction: I should have stated that there does not look like there is room for a metal plate in the control cavity......

    I checked once again this morning. The two volumes are wired as you stated above. One outer lug of each volume pot is soldered to the main pot casing. One lug on the coil split part is also soldered to their respective casings.

    When I visit my tech I will ask him to check for cold solder joints on each. Does that sound like a reasonable
    question to ask?

    Gotcha. Good to check. It sure won't hurt! :D

    A good tech will be able to figure it out, in person, whatever it is.
