After years of looking I was able to get my self a left handed R0. It is a 2008 and weighs in at 8 lbs 2 oz.
The sales clerk said it was 8.2 pounds and I said What?
What a surprise to see it weigh in at 8 pounds 2 ounces.

So I have spent the last 2 months trying to find pickups for it. It came with late 70s or
early 80s T Tops. They sounded OK but not what I was listening for.

So for your amusement and/ or my chagrin here are some sound samples of various pick ups in my R0.

The rhythm part is handled by my 2015/2014 Spec R9 with shed PAF Daddy's (the guitar on the left in picture). The guitar on the right is the 2008 R0 that plays the lead part with the various
pickups identified by the mp3 title.
e.g. 2008-R0-Sigil-Lond66.mp3, the lead is with Sigil London 66

    This is awesome.

What ReWind Electric bridge pickup are you using for the 3rd and 9th clips? I see Creme Brûlées on the 10th clip. Is it the Creme Brûlée bridge in those, as well?

    ...also, what's the "WT-GM-neck" pickup?

    Wolfetone something, maybe?

What amp/speakers are you playing through? You've got a real nice sound that's uniform across all the pickups. Your sound/style comes through them all. Very nice work.

The Bridge pickup in those clips is the one you rewound for me from that early set I bought years ago. It works pretty well with both the Wolfetone Greg Martin and the Mule.

    Oh yeah the amp.
It is a 4 x 6v6gtv amp based on the fender 5f8a. So it has big transformers. I mic'd one of the 2 12 inch speakers close. The speaker is a Weber VST 1265. The mic is a Rode NTK.

HNGD ,Cool R0 that's rare as hens teeth ....

I haven't gone thought the demo's ,since ,,It's really you that must be happy with the tone you get from 1 vs. another ....
What makes you happy, will give you inspiration and that will get you to play sounding like you digging what your playing, which all can hear ... I can anyway ....

    What you said.
The pickups that keep me playing the longest usually end up staying in the guitar.
Problem is there are so many great sounding pickups available. A good problem to have

I agree. The harmonics and clarity stood out with his style.

dude, i thought i was bad. :) i have the same year r0, and finally stuck a set of wizz pickups in it about a year ago. i'm done...they'll do. :) the set i have are an early wind he did in the "peter green" variety, but the original owner (i'm the second) had flipped the bridge p-up magnet to set them back to normal phase. which is fine by me. i'm not into the honk in the middle position.

they are a bit hotter than his standard (nowadays) paf wind, and originally came with a4 magnets. i had alex send me a set of his short a5 mags many months ago, but finally swapped them out during my last string change. i'm quite happy with how they sound. and if i want a little darker/mellower tone, i can always throw the original a4 mags back in.

the next time you feel compelled to swap pickups, put the guitar down, and go for a walk. :) just kidding. have fun. that is until your loved ones have you committed.

I'm going for a lot of walks.
I have to say strolling around out doors this time a year is a better choice.
    Thanks!
