    Hi,

I need to replace the (edit: polepiece) adjusting screws of a pickup set (way too rusty).

Would anyone point me to a good source? I need vintage style PAF screws.

    Thanks!

WD Music sells the long slotted variety. They ALSO sell Philips so be careful which ones you pickup. :D

Ok, they have a price of $0, so I don't know what the deal is there. Maybe they are out of stock? I'd call. They are pretty close to vintage-accurate, though. About as good as you will get without ordering several thousand custom made.

AllParts sells some, also. Maybe not as nice?

Oh, my bad, I didn't mean these screws, I meant the polepiece adjusting screws. Just fixed the original post and thread title.

OP, I don't know how dear this particular pickup is to you.
If it is dear, I'd suggest exhausting all methods of cleaning the existing screws.
Different metals in such position in the pickup can have a significant effect on the sound; desirable or not.

No problem, however, it's useful to update your data to show where you're from.

You see, even if my advice it's correct, I don't think it'll be an economically viable option ordering from them, due to minimum postage, customs and VAT for you, being in Brazil.

    HTH,

    Indeed.

However, as I often buy stuff in the US, I use a package consolidation/forwarding service that helps me in this kind of situation. So I was actually thinking of a US source, yes.

    Thanks!

Framos, let me know how much you'll pay for the whole thing; as I have a lot of original Duncan polepieces laying around, maybe I can offer you the same for a lot less.

    PM me.

    Yours very truly,

Maybe contact Seymour Duncan custom shop and ask them if they can send/sell you pole pieces from the same steel but new instead of aged?
That way you'll know for sure you're not changing the sound than if you buy pole pieces from a different mix.

Ok, here were we thinking you had an old set of pickups with real rust issues...when all you have is a 'new' pickup with a cosmetic skin of rust which would probably come off with your fingers if you rubbed hard.
