On, always. Especially on a custom with the 3-ply pickguard

:laugh2: Damned! Only "vintage correct" would do.

But i can understand OP not wanting to do holes on the guitar... after some use for a few years it won't matter I guess.

I thought one cannot possibly play like Jimmy Page if one doesn't have the picguard on, but after I refinished my new tribute I couldn't put the picguard back on:

Pickguard on if you have small, short hands or a high action. It gives you somewhere to anchor your fingers. Pickguard off if you have large, long hands or a low action, otherwise it gets in the way and forces you to curl your fingers up.

    YMMV

How beautiful is the top on your LP ?

Do you want some of it covered up ???

:photos: Would really need to see what it looks like to make an informed opinion.

. If you bought it with a pick guard on--I would leave it on if you bought it without a pick guard I would leave it off.
