The reason that you can't find any definitive answers is because they can be customized.

I have a 6L6 DC8 and asked Randy which tubes I could swap.

His reply: "6V6, EL34 likely will draw too much heater current."

Without being absolutely sure, I would not try it.

    That really is a disgrace.

I do love my Duophonic and it only took about 3 months from ordering to receiving it, but it sounds like he was churning out amps like mine whilst your McClanes were sitting there unfinished on the bench for over a year.

I will always champion the quality of Phaez amps because they really are astonishingly good, but treating customers like that really is piss poor. If I had known about some of these delays there is no way I would have ordered an amp. I guess I got really lucky.

It reminds me of MHD pickups. Amazing quality pickups but lots of people got burned with badly delayed orders. In the end he went out of business because it got too far out of hand.

It is very interesting to see these quotes especially ATOP who screwed up his build on paypal payment and by the time it was fixed Randy gave him a pre amp for all his trouble ,but this guy is just a complainer who wants freebees....Randy is a one man builder doing all his emails and builds ,yes there have bin a few screw ups on both parts but if you consider in over 5000 amp builds delivered on time it only takes a few screw up to bad mouth him...you can except my reasoning or not but Randy has told me about how confusing many of his email have led to problems on requested custom builds ......JIM

    Hey Jim,

I have mad respect for Randy, and I wish him continued success in his business. On that note, I cannot see how your post is going to help matters at all. Just my two (Canadian) cents....

    Cheers to all!
    John

John I agree with what you have said on my part ...MLP has been a great place for PHAEZ and hope to remain so ...as for me and my involvement here in the past it has been great ,I only build cabs for Randy and have no involvement with his business other than make cabs.....In the future I intend to keep my 2 cents to my self and vanish into my wood shop....wish all MLP members a Great holiday MERRY XMASS to all and to all good bye....JIM

I had 3 different model Phaez amps. Each had their own unique voice with a snarl and growl I've only heard with Randy's amps...

I ended up keeping the Daisycutter and every time I play though it, I remember why :thumb:

And a happy holidaze to you as well good sir. And don't leave us because of a few grumps. Your insight has been very helpful over the years, let alone the fact that I have you to thank for the cabs that hold two of my lovely amps.

And a happy holidaze to the rest of you Phaeziacs, haters included.:welcome:

How are you brother? It seems as things have changed. Anyway I wanted to pop in to see if any of the old phaezers were still hanging around. My JTM 45 is still going strong and its the one I still play all the time.

Kicked ass again with the Phaez over the weekend!

Because of the gig venue we had to turn down onstage and mainly go thru the PA.

No problem.... flicked the half power switch and still played cranked :thumb:
