To me the alico still have sweetness at low volumes whereas the ceramic sound like they have a blanket on them

    speakers Ive tried

    Celestion g12t 100
Celestion G12M Heritage in the 1974x
    Scumback j75
    Cannabis Rex

This will be my performance amp so it will get used at louder volumes but will still get a ton of apartment volume usage as

I will probably sell my SIBLY/Blackface Gemini

I hear ya. Speakers are so subjective. It all depends on exactly what you wanna hear, and what a player's style is. TTYTT, I don't really know how we all make up our minds about what to use . . . trial and error . . . and "buy n' try" I guess :). I just stick with V-30s for the most part after a lot of trial and error. If an amp sounds crappy through them, it's probably a crappy amp . . .

Just had a great jam with Mike ('Penguin' on this forum). He contacted me on another forum where I posted pics of my Phaez. Mikey showed up with a six pack and I plugged him into the Phaez. We were digging the tones and eachother's company, so when the six pack was dry, we went to the Beer Store, bought a 12 pack, and jammed for 3 more hours. Great dude, great tones, I had a good day today! Thanks Mike.

Quick clean demo w/ Valve Art but w/o Unleash

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJwIBHEdTFU]Phaez Combo Clean - YouTube[/ame]

Badcat Unleash arrived late today after repairs and now I am back to the Gold Lion as pushing the amp gave me everything I could want. Valve Arts had a nicer full tone at low volumes. GLs were more articulate but couldnt pull off ACDC at low volume.

Really happy with how this amp is turning out. Real demo with Unleash dirty soon.

I had a great time! Thank you for your kindness and hospitality, Neil. It's not everyday you find someone willing to let a complete stranger into their home to jam and drink beer, haha.

Neil's Phaez Duophonic sounds amazing and confirmed three things. First, I don't need a clean channel of any sort. Turning the gain down on the SIBLY yielded some great clean tones with a slight bite to them. I was able to pull out some Mayer, Hendrix and SRV tones without issue. Second, the touch response is unreal! The amp is also dead quiet which is always nice. Lastly, I will definitely be getting a Phaez! I mentioned in an earlier post that I've thought about asking Randy to build me a Dr. Z Maz 18 NR clone. However, I can see a Jackal or SIBLY suiting my needs perfectly.

Here is a picture Neil took of me. Please ignore the tan line! I went fishing on Wednesday and, being southern Italian, I soak up the sun VERY quickly.

    Thanks again, Neil!

Hi, all! I'm new here - a few guys at TGP directed me here because this is THE place for Phaez guys :)

I just put an order in with Randy for a custom amp called The Churchill - a cathode biased McClane with a Vox tone stack. Really looking forward up plugging in and cranking it up!

This thread is HUGE! I'm happy to be in such cool company, and I can't wait to hear more about YOUR amps!

It's nice to meet you all :)

THIS. Is cool! The world needs more stuff like this - good people, getting together and sharing good brews, good company, and good tones.

    I'm gonna like it here!

Most times Randy can do in 3 weeks or less and Headcabs are built by me as the orders come in ....He has moved back to home full basement set up and is out of the store front it became a chore dealing with people dropping in nosing around not buying any thing....this bites into his build time.
most if not all his sales are internet so the store was more a hassle.
New members are nice to here from looking at a Phaez.....JIM

Do you build this nice wooden heads he has in a lot of those photos? If so, you do sweet work!

Shame to hear about the storefront, but it sounds like a solid business decision; better to save on rent and work where he knows he'll be able to do his thing. In my limited correspondence with him, he's been really cool and answered even my most ridiculous questions in a timely manner. He knows how to run his business!

My goal with The Churchill is a light, grab-and-go vox style amp with a little extra fire on tap (got a bad back, and vox style amps tend to be... Oh, about 2-3 times as much as I can carry right now haha) I'm gonna go with a pine combo cabinet, probably 1x10 but im also considering 2x8. Do any of y'all have any experience with 2x8s? I figure I can plug it into my 1x12 cab when I need the extra horse power!

Speaker suggestions welcome and appreciated! I'm pretty much looking for 10s or 8s, but if you have any good 12s that don't weigh a ton, that's cool too!

Hey guys....Just a few questions as Im getting interested in ordering one of these Phaez amps.

    1. Would it be possible to order a custom 2 channel amp with the first channel being Blackface/Corona and the second channel being Asheville?

    2. Can Phaez install a PPIMV as an option on all amps?

    3. Im thinking of going lower wattage 20-30 watts with 6v6s....anybody have experience with an Asheville with 6v6?

    4. Where is the recommended place to get quality tubes for these amps.

    Thanks!

With Unleash back up and running I got the thickness I was missing since I couldnt turn the amp up.

    Taking a hard look at

    Red Fang
    Celestion Gold
    Vintage 30

Can you tell me why you prefer the 30. In clip on the company site it sounds a lot like a Gold but can be obtained a lot cheaper. Its also the heaviest but only by 2lbs.

Heritage G12H (75hz) sounds somewhere inbetween Gold and v30
