First time i did this it took my more than half an hour figuring how to remove the solder points. I found the easiest way to be hitting a replacement blade with a small hammer. Now it takes me 10 seconds in total to cut both solder points.

Great guide, and the tone is magical too.

Kickass! Finally someone posted a step-by-step for this mod. Thanks! Quick question, what's the difference in an A5 and A2 magnets?

Glad you like the thread. From my experience an A5 magnet will bring out more Lows and Highs and and A2 has more emphasis on the Mids.

    Great sticky! Thank you!

I have a 67 ES 345 stereo, and the middle position was Peter Greenish when I use one amp instead of two amps. So I did the opposite and made the two PUs in phase... now, there's no perceived drop in volume when toggle switch is in middle position.

Sorry they got deleted from the online folder they were in and are wiped off of on my hard drive.

One of these days if I get some time I may do the PG mod again and take a whole new set of pics and upload them to my photobucket account.

Many thanks for taking the time to do this Jonesy. If I can understand it, that means anyone can.

I can see the pickups from my Epi SG turn into my lab-rats due to that...:naughty:

    Your welcome Hector :)

Some epi magnets are actually glued in so keep that in mind if you go to remove one.

I thought that the whole candle that Epi melts and sucks into these things would be more than sufficient to hold everything in place...:laugh2:

I have seen footage of Peter Green with Fleetwood Mac with the front pick up merely turned around. I asked a pretty popular pickup maker & was told flipping the pickup or flipping the wires on the pickup will yield the same tone. This guy may have re wound pickups for the guy, he didn't say.

Turning the pickup around 180 degrees just changes the position of the screw poles but it wont change the phase.

I read that peter green pulled his guitar aopart to clean it and put it back wrongly,,
years later the guitar ended up with garry moore and when it was inspected it was found to be wired accidently OUT OF PHASE,, that gave that overdrive sound even at low volume,,
its like putting + and - wires on the wrong polarity at the other end,

there is no magic to this ,, just drink gallons of beer,,take 10 of everything in sight and pull your guitar apart then put it back together,,peter green sound,,:fingersx:

Go on then, try it :D

Half of the outer braids in your guitar wiring will now be hot instead of ground, including those to and from the switch, and one of your pickup covers will now be live too.

Accidental OOP wiring is perfectly plausible with modern 4-conductor pickups, but it actually takes a shitload of work on a vintage PAF.

    Another myth I'm afraid.
