Looking at pictures of Peter Frampton with his found old Les Paul Custom. Being originally a 1954 shouldn't the three upper inlays on the fingerboard be of the same size? Seems they are not from what i see on the pictures anyway.

Maybe the "same size inlays" QC guy was not doing his job that day.

There is a whole massive thread on this site as to why those inlays are not period correct. The guitar was heavily modified before and after he acquired it . It is an awesome read but time consuming, still worth it though.

search "Frampton"s 54 custom found". I'd attach a link but I'm just a computer moron.

    This.

If I recall correctly, the fretboard was actually replaced at some point, while some of the original inlays were saved?

Those 4 pictures in my OP where the only pictures I saved and transfered to my new laptop when my old one broke down. I felt they might be worth saving. They should be back up can anyone check?

    Thanks!!!
I saw a rig rundown with Peter Frampton where they talked a lot about his Custom. Seems from what i understand The person that gave it to him had had it routed for three pickups quite recently before he got it. He also talks about that he had it painted and that it probably wasn't black before. Was there anything but black Customs in the 50's? He also says that he sandedit down so it's thinner than a regular Custom. I watched an old 70's concert with Peter Frampton and there the guitar had an ABR-1 bridge. But now it seems to have a Nashville TOM bridge. Seems not much is original on that guitar.
