Looks like Gibson Custom posted a pic on Facebook of what appears to be the Perry Burst signature LP. This one was supposed to be out months ago according to my source.

That is probably a proto type, not the final version. So who knows if it will have the correct broken tuner.

Joe is THE MAN in my book. I seem to remember him playing a black custom a lot in the 70's. More so than the the tobacco burst. Although there were many guitars he played that made me want one, Firebird and Mockingbirds to name a few. Wonder what the tag is on this one. Not really a signature guy, but this might be cool.

For some reason, many people have been expecting this one to be a CC guitar. I was told from the beginning it is a signature guitar; thus that is how I described it in the title and the OP. I asked my Gibson contact again today, and they still think it is a signature guitar. But there is always that exception with Gibson. So who knows for sure. If I had to guess I would lean 99% towards signature guitar. I will leave that 1% in there in case it does turn out to be a CC. Hasn't Perry played it in concert? And hasn't he recorded with it in the past? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, I believe that makes it even more likely to be a signature guitar.

This is the only LP I've seen him play recently - this was from this month:

The rumor is this is CC#5, correct?
Or is that just conjecture and speculation?

    I love that guitar.

yeah they got it too red; that was just a proto type. they will be doing a second version soon. they had to go by pics of the back; and the camera made it look more red than it really is.

The release of this signature guitar (it will be a signature), is running right on schedule, according to my main bud that runs the Custom Shop.

They are working on a better color match as we speak. The front is also off a bit on the 'prototype'. That's why they have only released the 'teaser' pics on Facebook. He sent me some very nice, detailed pictures of it, and it will be a nice unit once approved. It will have a two piece fretboard, which my bud is not pleased with at all, but their (Gibson's) hands are tied at this point. I'm flying down this weekend to hang with my bud, and I'll be able to check out this axe first hand.

really, first post and new join....Hmmmmm.... Welcome first off and do you have any other corroborative evidence to support this?

Its an iconic guitar for sure but I don't think I'd take a stab at it. Never been a fan of the tobacco bursts, and Joe has a preference for fat necks. If it becomes an 'artist' aged model, I'd expect it to have a fat neck, even though the original burst may not. Ifi it becomes a CC line (number 7 cuz 5 is Donna???) then I'd expect them to mimic the exact neck profile. I forget which year the real one is, but I'd be willing to bet it has more of a fat profile since that is Joe's preference..

As in what??? I didn't know new members weren't allowed to make informative posts. Should I have started off with a 'is this a real Les Paul' thread?
