It's always interesting to see how many touring pros use Boss gear on their boards. To hear some folks talk, Boss is beneath consideration, but if it's good enough for the artists pictured, then.....

Quoting myself  , but ditto for digital gear - you gonna tell Joe Perry "all digital processing sounds like CRAP!" ? :dude:

Double-quoting you, adding my thoughts. You know, what you don't see in the pics above are the AMPS, baby. And, IMHO, at this stage / gigging level that these pros are playing, the bulk of the tone comes from the amps, not the pedals. Now, when I'm home jamming with my 1-watter, I am relying on top quality pedals to do most of the work. And they do.

Not that it means absolutely anything about the mass-produced ones. As you said, if they're good enough for them...

Great point about amps. However, "garbage in, garbage out" - if Joe Perry thought a Line6 pedal wasn't adequate to feed his amp of choice, I don't think it'd be a problem for him to afford something better.

The common boss argument is that they are easily replaceable on the road. It is an advantage, but when they are on the same board with klons and boss vibratos, that starts to lose is strength.

My personal opinion is that Boss works well over all when placed in the context of the music. What sounds thin through your bedroom amp with no drums or bass may sit just right with in the context of the music being performed.

    This thread is long overdue!

Along the same lines, what sounds full and powerful in the bedroom can often turn to complete mud in a band setting.

Er, that's usually due to a bad bass player.....:laugh2:

In regards to Joe Perry; His board changes often, and, he has rack mounted effects
and a bunch more stomp boxes on a rack shelf....His tech does most of the on/off work..

Brad also changes his board often as well...ie, he currently has a couple of toneprints
    on his board.....

Oh you KNOW I'm gonna flood this thread with tons of pics of my faves. :laugh2:

And yes BOSS makes good stuff. I think I've said before the best tone I've ever heard (and I'm removing my bias for the player here) was Joe Walsh in the Eagles in 2008 and he uses almost exclusively BOSS pedals and BOSS dirtboxes.

Wow, look at all the TC stomps on Aerosmith's boards! Very cool - I think they're putting out great products.

Lots of EB Vol Jr's and Dunlop VPs too. I really like my Dunlop, very sturdy construction and a good long sweep.
