I don't think modelling will ever "get there" if you know what I mean. That's not to say there hasn't been great advances. You just can't have modelling without the Digital Domain and to my ears I can always here it and dare I say feel it as well. I am not a snob, just prefer the analog/tube thing :io:

I see what you mean, and i mostly agree with you. I do however think that the modelling will get there, although Im not going to jump on that train even that day. Pedals, tube amps and real guitars inspire me much much more, and thats in a way that modelling is never going to do

Modeling is here to stay - and has been for quite a while. Two of my favourite guitarists ever went digital in the early/mid 1990s and I have to say that for me personally, I'm much less impressed by the whole tube amp thing now than I was before I owned one. My AC15 will probably not last to the end of the year in my rig.

Definitely agree it is here to stay, but like everything musical its always subjective. That's what makes it fun :thumb: That just means more tubes for me! :naughty::wave:

My next two pedal purchases will be: an envelope filter (either a VFE or a EHX) and a Morley Power Wha. I am not 100% into the power wha but it is both a wha and a volume pedal so it will save some needed space.

The question is, should I spend more money and get the cool VFE Mini Mu or save money and get the EHX Qtron+? I know the Qtron will work because I have one (but it is a large sized older one).

Bede - have a look at the Glab wah

In terms of an envelope pedal, check the pigtronix envelope phaser

The picture of your Strat held by your brother is so great. Images that gather together music and family - st.bede also put up a lovely photo with a fine young man standing behind three of his guitars - just really get me where I live - as the saying goes

i'll start to get my brother to hold my guitars when i take pics, but several people in here will assert he's a) way too handsome, and also b) just some random 30yr old that wouldn't make anything better.

but yeah, i agree with you :D

Also, a moment of silence for NorthernGuitarGuy, it seems. He was one of us. I hope they let him back in.

Music has always been a big thing in my family. My brother plays bass and also trumpet, I play guitar and trombone. Its not an unusual thing to hear, on a friday night, "Johan, get the guitar lets jam!.. It always ends up with spending 3 hours trying to piece together some funk tune :D

That's very beautiful, buddy. I am the first person in my family, and in my wive's family, to pick up an instrument so I am the one who is actually trying to create a musical tradition. One of my boys seems to be interested, keeps strumming my guitars daily and has asked me that he starts guitar lessons. He is dead set on starting on an accoustic. So... we'll see how it goes.

You always have to start somewhere, and acoustically is probably the best place. Hope all goes well!
