Looks like Pearl Jam's Mike McCready got himself a new 1959 Gibson Les Paul. His second vintage burst. He bought it at Emerald City Guitars in his hometown Seattle. Any information on this guitar? Serial number, previous owners?

Some pics from Emerald City Guitars facebook page.

Very cool. Did Emerald City have anything posted in their website about it?

That dot is strange. It looks like there was a sticker on there preventing that circle from fading with the rest of the guitar or something?

Good to know what happened to this guitar. This was discussed extensively a couple years ago on here as Emerald City were selling it and were advertising it.
I had the opportunity to play this guitar one time at the store. They are very nice folks that run the store (which is worth a visit if you err make it to Seattle). It was really a spectacular guitar and the sound was unlike anything I had heard. I think at the time they wanted 220K for it, but it wasn't moving at that price. I considered it, but frankly, thats too much money for anything but real estate (for me). Good that it has landed in the hands of a burst lover and someone who can bring it out and put it to good use.
No one seems to know quite why it has a spot and the guys in the store didn't know. It was likely just a sticker or something minor, not a Bigsby issue.

220k for that guitar doesn't seem horribly out of range. Maybe it was too high for "a few years ago". Market has come back since 2008. Wonder if there were any issues with it, other than a big dot on the top. Maybe just timing.

It's from the factory sticker that read:
"Not for sale" 'cause this one sounded like sh*t so they used it as a display prop only...
    :naughty:

Wow! Wealthy rock star buys an expensive guitar.
The world is a fascinating place, indeed.

    :hmm:

    How about:

"Performing musician buys guitar to use as instrument. Guitar set for public life making music, not stuck in a vault by a collector."

That sound better? Mike uses his guitars on stage all the time. Go to a PJ show and you'll see all of his vintage gear get the on-stage workouts they deserve. They are for playing, and I've enjoyed seeing/hearing him use them. Pretty soon I hope to get the chance to see/hear him use this new one, too.

    :)

Duly noted, sir. I was not aware Pearl Jam had such ardent followers. If my trivial, "off the cuff" remark has offended you or any other Pearl Jammians here at MYLesPaul, I sincerely apologize. I will now relinquish my tattered, flannel shirt.

Not at all, and I hope my post didn't imply that. I was just offering an alternative interpretation of the story, that's all.

I'd send that guitar to Kim and have the top refinished. I can't stand that dot.

I like Pearl Jam and McCready's taste in guitars and amps is pretty darn good. He plays them all and puts them to good use. Plus, it's better than blowing thousands on blow and smack as well.
