Old, I know, but I've just read through this whole thread. Spent around an hour today trying to improve my vibrato. I will nail Kossoff's vibrato. I'm a long way off but I will do it.

I've also ordered a Lick Library Paul Kossoff dvd. Should be fun.

Kossoff's stripped Les Paul, what was it? I've been trying to find out for ages so I can figure out the colour of the back. It looks kinda brown in some pictures. That would make it a gold top. However, it's often called the Stripped Burst, which leads me to believe it was a 59 burst. In which case, it would be a red back. Were they making gold tops in 59?

Believe it or not, this is the original finish of a faded 1959 Burst. The backs can and do fade.

Interestingly, a mid 60 burst I played a few weeks ago had a top that was still pretty dark (not tomato soup but still lots of cherry) but the neck and back noticeably faded.

Got a very rare treat for you guys today! I've read lots about how Kossoff's guitar was featured in a magazine back in '96. Well I found that magazine and here are the pictures. Hopefully the grain shows well. This is it before all the wear. I've compared it with other pictures of the guitar and it's definitely the same one. Note the kidney tuners, bigsby holes. It has a brown back, no serial number and a stripped neck.

    So without further ado...
