I like what I read here: http://www.mylespaul.com/threads/any-experience-with-reverb-guitar-cables.400122/ Back "in the day" it was Switchcraft plugs, Belden cable. Most Switchcraft do-dads are still made in Illinois. I'm reasonably handy with a soldering iron. Bought some Switchcraft 1/8" inline jacks / plugs a few years ago to make stereo to mono adapters for headphones (my left ear is stone deaf since birth) using 80s vintage Tandy eight conductor braided / foil shielded cable I have. Love the simplicity and time tested design of Switchcraft. I've never had one fail, even when I was hard on my cords. If something goes wonky with the cable, I can fix them myself. http://www.re-wind.net/Cables.html These really look what I'd like, but no mention of Belden? Surely the USA makes decent cable? Or not? So, what's out there these days?
