Papa Omom Mow Mow were a really great Beach Boys tribute band.
Frank Zappa and Billy Joel could be in a fiery, hell burnt plane crash tomorrow and the music world would be better off.
Just sayin'. Rant over.
But I love Frank.......
Frank died nearly 25 years ago. And he was AWESOME!
Regarding Zappa. He was an interesting person to listen to in interviews. Well spoken and articulate. His music on the other hand was awful.
Regarding Joel. I never bought the 'Bad ass from the Bronx' persona he tried selling for a while. And his music was equally awful. "Uptown Girl" almost make my fly into a homicidal rage it's so bad.
Zappa's music wasn't supposed to be easy to listen to. He was first and foremost a savage satirist, lampooning consumerism, American politics, the pop music business, organized religion and sex, but he was also an incredibly talented musician who cranked out some of the most intricate and intense "Rock" music ever written. It was so far ahead of its time and so out of step with what was going on at the time, that it was in a category of its own. It's still so.
As for Billy Joel, he was a by-the-book pop sellout, albiet a very talented and successful one. And rich.
Come on. You're not gonna use the 'got a lotta money' card are ya?
Thank you for this incredibly timely post! Irrefutable proof Zappa sucked ball bags.
I was never a fan of Franks. Odd ball that he was.
