In other news, the fake (definitely the fake this time) has had a third bid.

I was thinking it was for the FM model? That's probably worth a couple of grand. They're so fucking scarce. Anybody else see the AW 57B yet? I think it's the first I've seen.

    Yep. That's the one.

Sorry - it won't (fingers crossed) happen again.

I own a regular Orville, '96, FujiGen. As is typical of the "regular" Orvilles, it is built to what looks like about '57 specs, with a long tenon, head angle, full depth maple cap, etc. that fits that period. It is beautifully made. However -- big qualification -- it has a multipiece top and two piece back, no nibs, fotoflame, poly finish, and the crap Orville electronics. (OBGs have Gibson USA hardware, which is the main figgerence.) These amazing Orvilles are perfect for rebuilding, and I remade mine as a goldtop, nitro, with all changed parts. The result is spectacular. I hawk all my parts used off eBay, and ended up with a really great guitar for very little outlay. I paid $550 for the guitar (because of the undesirable fotoflame). IMO, these instruments are terrific for upgrading, but with the lousy electronics -- weak, choked PUs, cheap pots, etc. -- and thick poly finish, are not very exciting stock.

Anyone can help identify the model of this guitar? It has a weird serial number for an ObG. It has fret bindings and a Long tenon though. I can’t tell if it’s veneer or a real top but it does have that 3D effect. How does one tell between veneer and maple top?

Pull the neck pickup and get pictures of the cavity. Should be able to tell from there whether it's a flame or not. Post those pics here to please :D

Seen quite a few over the years , still kicking myself for not buying one that went around 30K a few years ago minus the hardware :(

That one looks well overpriced tbh, refretted and the knobs and tuners aren't right for a 57B either, easily changed I guess but why would you?

Yeah 125K is up there but it'll probably come down in the next couple of weeks.

Looks like a laminate top to me. It's a nice 59R.

I wondered that this morning, but ran out of time to check myself. What are the chances that the same seller got guitars from different places that both has this done? Me thinks the seller is doing it.
