They are both beautiful examples.
Really love that cherry red, Gibson's most beautiful finish, IMO.
I learn something new everyday .
Thanks guys !
The three I own....L-R 61 Special, 63 Jr. conversion to Fool SG Std, 61 Std w/PAF's.
THose are just ridiculously cool. I followed your thread on TGP about the Fool SG. Beee-yoootiful.
Thanks RJ & M60. I'll probably trade one or two in for a heart transplant in 20 years.
The SG is my favorite guitar of all time!
I got my first SG in 1969, from Gene Simmons, whom I attended college with in the Catskills of upstate N.Y. Yes, the very same Gene Simmons of KISS fame. His name was Gene Klein at that time. I paid $150 for it. It was exactly like the SG Special shown below:
I took the vibrato assembly off, and wrapped the strings around the bridge.
It left 3 holes in the guitar. Pete Townshend did the same thing.
I sold it...like a fool....for the same price I bought it for. I was fed up with
the music business and planned on quitting guitar altogether. Little did I know...that you just can't do that!
Next SG was a 1976 SG Standard with a badass bridge. Sold that one, too.
In 1990, I got a 1974 SG Standard, and two weeks later, I bought a 1979 Gibson LP Custom Silverburst. Money was tight a couple of years later,
so I sold the SG.
Now, I have two. A 1999 Naturalburst Limited Edition:
And a 2005 Special Faded:
I shall never part with my SG's again!
1962 LP/SG Junior rescued from a very bad man, and a SG Special with a '67 Junior neck & SN.
...that's some serious mojo there,hack...
WHoa, Hack...NICE! Lotsa P90's there, too!
If you like P90's which I do, have a look at this thread which was swamped into oblivion by an other poster in the Tonefreaks section :
I mention this only because Pete Tate wanted people to see them and I made 'em etc...
Especially when it's mahogany...m
Rippin' color fer the SG...m
Not mine but have this photo of a 61 Les Paul SG
that is like my old guitarists, the tremlo is really strange on these
you pull up on it like a door handle
Cool, a place to unleash my 2000 61/62 Historic SG LP!
i hate you people. but les paul's are better anyways
This is my first post. I don't currently own a traditional style LP...(looking for a nice Burst re-issue), but I've had this '61 LP (SG) Custom since '73. It's in pretty nice shape has all 3 origional PAF's,pots, caps, and the wonky Vibrola tailpiece. The headstock has a pretty noticeable crack in the back.
Nevermind, it won't let me upload my pics, lol:
