Awesome! Looks like you guys had a good time. Some nice vintage gear around I see.

I wonder why the bridge was backwards on that '58?

Wow- what a weekend! Let me start by saying a super "Thank You" to Neil, Boles and Spacebubby for all their hard work both on the booth and as hosts throughout the weekend, putting up with that eternal question, "Why ain't it for sale"?:laugh2: I'd say it was a grand start for what I hope will be the official "Southern Meet" and we will be looking forward to next year's gathering. Can't forget Artie too, as he's initial point man and the one that got the ball rolling. Everyone I met from the forum was super nice and I wish I could have spent more time over there, but there seemed to be people rolling through the 'Elk booth all the time, so it was hard to get out for more than a few minutes. I do have some pictures and they'll be posted in the next day or so- I gotta unload the van, etc., etc., and do some post- show chores. If you were there, it was a great pleasure to meet you and if you weren't, maybe we can see you next year. I hear they are going to have bear- wrestling and a 'nana puddin' contest.....!

Thanks so much for taking pictures. I wish I could have made it. I've never seen a vintage '58 or '59 in person. Next time!

Ok, group shot for now. I have to resize every image, that's why it wouldn't upload at the show...the pictures are HUGE because of the high quality camera Neil's sister had.

Both Neil and Boles have told me repeatedly how hard you
have been working, and I see it isn't over yet. I just want to
tell you how much we all appreciate the work you have done,
and continue to do. Thank you, Bubby!

I tell you what, seeing those guitars on top of those tables makes me nervous, and they not even mine...

With that said, those are some nice looking guitars...

It was nice to meet you guys... sorry I didn't bring in my Custom 22 to display but my wife decided she wanted to come and bring our 3 year old daughter and there was no disputing her request... so we ended up being there just long enough to walk around and check out some guitars... I think we were there an hour tops. The MLP guitars were awesome and spacebubby and Boleskinehouse were cool people to meet. :)

I did buy a couple of pedals while I was there and one didn't work ($100... doh!) when I got it home. One of the things I noticed about almost every vendor was that the prices on the majority of the guitars were between 10-30% more than what they are at most music stores for new guitars. Additionally, I heard a couple of vendors making ridiculously lowball offers to a couple of people who were looking for trades. That kind of thing isn't going to make these shows very popular.

Most of the dealers have stores, and their store prices fall right
in line with average selling price. At the show, the dealers pay
for their Booth, and some also pay for electric. (an additional expense)
It cost money to own a truck, and buy fuel to transport everything
to the show. These addition costs must be passed on to the consumers.
The dealers don’t see additional profit from their sales at the show,
it simply offsets their additional expenses. In most cases, if you ask
for a discount, the dealers will try to accommodate you.

Would not those kind of expenses be able to be offset against tax...?
