Has anyone watched Eric Clapton: A Life in 12 Bars?

It’s pretty cool with lots of unseen footage.

One particularly caught my eye and it was a 2 second clip of Clapton playing the Beano.

In the clip (it’s about 25 mins in) you can see Beano with a Zebra pickup on the treble when all other photos (from the same session) show it a a double black.

Why would they go to the trouble to change it?!

I think in your bottom picture, the angle of the pic makes the light hit the bridge pickup in such a way as to make it appear as the bobbin nearest the bridge is white. However, if you look at it compared to the white bobbins on the neck pickup, you can see it isn't as "bright". Therefore, the light is "lightening" the black bobbin, if that makes any sense at all.

I believe all pics show a double-black bridge pickup.

Your guess is as good as mine but it could have been micro-phonic,
intermittent signal cut due to wire, etc.
Or we can even speculate that there was a specific search for "tone"!
    :D

So which pickup is on which song on the Beano Album?

Hi. No I’m struggling with the light brightening theory as the angle is the same as the other pic where his hand obscures the whole pickup. Plus it’s not ‘flashed out’ as if reflecting a light. It’s just white. The same shade of white as the treble bobbins.

The bottom pic obviously is a photo I took of the tv and I’ve watched the clip a few times. It’s def a white bobbin but I don’t know why they would do that for the documentary. In other scenes shortly before and after you can also see it’s a double black.

I've seen that sequence, and to me it's clear they are just edited photographs (the famous picture we all know), with cut outs, and then animated. It's not a video sequence. It's just an animation.

They just edited the photo to make an animation from a still picture, and for some reason they added those bobbins. (probably editors had no clue)

Just look what mess happen at the first fret, where they copy/pasted fret 5, to make out a fret 2 in the inlay from the 5, LOL!

    Haha.

Sorry, at first thought the guy was talking about a video sequence....but then I've seen the video myself, and it's bloody clear was just a crappy animation created from the famous shot. :cheers2:

Yep this is perfect. Just makes no sense as to why they would do it when the original pic was good enough!

That is a pretty common technique in the docu industry, especially for historic images, where you have to scrape the barrel from pictures instead from films and/or videos.

You take a picture, you cut out the parts you want to make "3D", and you animate them. If you look closely at the video (created from that picture), you'll see they also cut out the background, to create a "depth", moving the two layers independently...

    It's just editing eyecandy.

My first thought - crappy photoshop. The bridge, fretboard. Everything else around the picture, even the ruffles in his shirt, his right hand are identical to the original photo. It's just been messed with.
