I like nylon picks but both the Herco Ri (made by Dunlop) and the Herco Vintage 66 (also made by Dunlop) have left me underwhelmed. They are okay-ish but not close enough to the tone and feel of the nylon picks of yesteryear. The first Dunlop RIs were too plasticy, and the Vintage 66 too dull and certainly lacking the almost celluloid feel of the old Nylon. Apparently, I have heard that the gap is closing with the new Herco Holy Grails (quite dear) and the more affordable Planet Waves Nylflex. Any experience with any of those? The fact that Dunlop has released a THIRD incarnation of their take on old hercos indicates that there might be some truth to the rumour that they knew that they didn't get it right first or second time. I'm after the tone (as far as picks go) of Peter Green, Jimmy Page, Rory Gallagher.
