A guy is bringing over a stinger 1960 SPECIAL with a silkscreen " Les Paul Model" on the headstock .

Should I not even answer the door?

I don't see any reason why it couldn't just be a factory mix-up. Lots of weird things happened with Specials. It was the first model to lose it's silkscreen apparently,. Maybe they misplaced the screen? Then it reappears again on a few later models. Also lots of factory stingers on TV yellow for reasons that are unclear. Looks good to me!

    Yep!!

The only thing that really struck me was the tail piece and tuners??

    That is a brass nut,correct?

But one of these guys with the better eyes for this will know.

How is the price if changed parts??

It doesn't look like it ever had Kluson strips. So, factory Grovers? Might want to check that out..

The whole guitar seems to have had a clear overspray, they must have filled the strip tuner holes when they did it.

It's got all the 70s appointments.

    Clear coated.

    Badass bridge.

    Brass nut.

    9s

    Moved strap button.

Plays great though, tomorrow I'll shim the bridge pickup closer to the strings.

    Bridge pickup shimmed.

    Much fuller (heavier) tone.

Badass bridge is a pain in the ass to restring.

The pickups are legit, as is the guard, TRC and jack plate.

The rest is all 70s stuff.

She's a bit neck heavy, I'd say those full size Grovers have something to do with that, so that's the only thing I'm gonna change.

Button Klusons and a Mojoaxe wraptail and call it good.

    Maybe a Nubone nut...

    Looks great otherwise!

Great score. Congrats Jeggz! I tried Grovers on my Special and the neck would dive bomb, which is why so many have the strap pin moved too. Grovers also make the whole guitar feel a lot heavier than it needs to be. I preferred the look of Klusons and the strap button where it should be (holding the neck on), and it being a lightweight tone machine, but it still feels a bit awkward playing standing up like that. :hmm:

I have a 50something tailpiece laying around, I'll probably end up putting that on.

I already ordered the Kluson tuners and conversion bushings, hopefully that fixes the dive issue.

I traded an R8 a Burny LPC and a Baja Tele for this.

    I think I did ok.

    Grovers off.

    Strip Klusons on.

    Neck dive gone.

How bad are the washer dents on the headstock face? I need a set of those too if they are available.:naughty:

I can't deal with those at all, and leave Grovers on the vintage stuff I have had with them...A good strap kills neck dive for me.
