Talking about ugly, one of the latest posts on Gibson's official Instagram page...!
I want that ‘52!!!! Look at the f’n flame on that thing!
Is that a chunk of roofing shingle?
Do they call this the "Our Spray Guy Quit Mid-Job" Burst?
@Jumping@shadows has this one in the pile I believe getting ready for a restoration.
Not an ideal bridge mod...but part of its history nonetheless.
I would play the hell out of it as is.
Yup, that’ll be my project @Mr.Fingers, will be a challenge
^^^ Sees the Silver Lining through the clouds.......
Gotta be able to make that Bigsby work.
The most annoying aspect is they could have just screwed the intonated bar from the dog bone into the top leaving two small holes, instead of hogging it out for the base too.
I’ll be cleanly routing out the damaged area, then re-carving plugs then veneering with flame matched eastern maple- easy peasy right???
Wow, Yuuki, so you actually ended up with this!?! How do you always find the cool project guitars?!?
Can’t wait to see how this one turns out!
Yeah, I'm gonna have to see that....
Keep your eyes peeled EE
Yeah, you got a big hurdle with this one!
Very much looking forward to it!
Is that bridge plate glued to the top?
The only thing I'd do is lose that Bigsby and play the crap out of her.
I'd take it as is. Better than any resto or conversion.
It would be really sad to "restore" that. It awesome as-is.
I so want to play that...
Sure, it may be fugly as all heck,
but by golly it is oozing character and no mistake.
If you have tips on how to tackle veneering, please let me know, as I'm having a veneering task in front of me as well...
