    I just posted my intro in the introductions section.

    Many years ago, when I was 6-7, I began posting Kiss pictures and posters on my walls. I was a big fan. Of course, Ace's iconic Cherry Sunburst LP was everywhere. I wanted to play guitar because of Ace.

    Flash forward almost 40 years and here I was, still never owning a Les Paul. Somehow I ended up with Strats right from about 10 years old on.

    Well, time to put an end to that. Here, finally, is my very own Cherry Sunburst Les Paul! I don't care that it doesn't say Gibson on the headstock. She's a beauty and I LOVE the thick tone out of her. Plus, with seven other electrics on the walls, spending a few thousand on a Gibson would have me removed from the house!

    I just finished my first LP setup following the Gibson setup tips posted on another thread. It's a little different than a Strat, in some cases simpler, in others a little more complex.

    Although it felt good out of the box, it was a fair bit off. There was too much neck relief. I was surprised when I put the wrench to the truss rod that it had no tension on it! Odd.

    Once the neck was straightened out a bit I needed to raise the action on the bass side slightly to kill some buzzing. I was able to lower the treble side a bit.

    The 21st fret is slightly high at the high E, interfering with a fretted 20th fret just slightly. I will need to take care of that. I need to decide whether to do a full fret level.

    The nut slots are cut a little high and they will need to be filed down a bit to ease first position play a bit.

    I'm really into this thing. It sounds so awesome. I see more LP's in my future!

    Happy New Year! Welcome to MLP!

    Congrats on your beautiful Les Paul. And you're right, Epi Les Pauls are terrific alternatives to spending a fortune on a Gibson. With some nice upgrades, boy oh boy!

    My serial number begins with 1110151.

    Based on the FAQ sticky, this makes it a 2010 built on January 15. I bought it new. I wonder where it's been the past three years!

    I'm unclear on where it was built. The sticky says 11 prefix denotes an MIC sticker on a master built 500 (something like that). I know it is MIC, based on the stickers, but what factory? Just curious. Thanks!

    your serial number indicates the guitar was built in November of 2010 at the QingDao plant in China

    11= November
    10=2010
    15=QingDao plant in China

    the rest of the numbers are the production run numbers..

    Thanks for all the welcomes.

    I just cut the nut slots down to reasonable heights and the action is much improved, especially in the first position. Man, it was cut way too high.

    This is a short term nut fix, as I don't have the best nut files. I'll be hitting up Stew-Mac for a few files and a pre-slotted (roughed), bone nut while I'm at it.
