In my case, the locking part of the tuners is only for ease of restringing as it is a double locking trem.
So yeah, put the string through, lock it and the tuner will cut the excess. Can't get much easier than that :cool2:

Locking tuners don't help the guitar to stay in tune any better if you know how to string no-locking tuners the proper way. They just make restringing stupidly easy.

If you're putting new pickups in this guitar, I highly recommend the Duncan Pegasus/Sentient set. The Pegasus is criminally underrated compared to the Black Winter or the Nazgul. It's in a similar wheelhouse a JB but with a tighter low end during chugs, and with none of that infamous spikiness in the midrange that causes JB's to not play nice with certain guitars. The note blooming and separation in chords on the Pegasus are better than any other 'metal' pickup that I've ever tried. It also has better cleans than the JB, the Black Winter or the Nazgul, and it blends with the Sentient better than any of the aforementioned.

I totally agree about the Pegasus/Sentient. It is a lot more versatile than the current sound clips or descriptions lead you to believe. It does a lot of things really well. I like the Pegasus a lot better than the JB.

    Agreed.
Thanks for the tip, both of you :cheers2:
I will definitely check those pickups out.

    Just because..
I finally got the shipping label to return the Floyd Rose Pro they sent me, while I ordered a non-Pro.
When I get that, it's only pickups and wiring/pots/caps (well, some fret-work too).
I love the satin finish. It still gets fingerprints on it, but not as bad as full gloss black.
I will put some more bad pictures up when I installed the original (chrome) Floyd. Because I'm so good at taking pictures.

I'll be interested to hear about the Floyd install and how you like it. I find them intriguing, but they also seem like a PITA to use. Probably just need to watch a few videos about how to set them up

Floyds aren't a pita at all. If you want, I can share some videos with you.
