Ordered this right after the namm announcement and finally came in. Ash body with nitro. Perfect neck. Probably the best feeling of all the Claptons I've had. Seems the frets are a little taller too. Looks like they upgraded their COA's to include a little booklet. Just picked it up so only a half hour play time. So far so good. There's really nothing bad to say about these Claptons anyway.

Congrats. Beautiful strat. Since you've had it a couple of days, how's it compare to your other strats?

It's easy to say cause it is new but I think I like it the best f the Clapton Strats I own and have owned. Daphne for looks, but this one for playability.

My 94 CS is still my #1 but this is close
The 1970 is mixed in there as well.

It's definitely the neck and the guitar does feel worn in even with the fake relicing, its not overboard which I have always liked about the Journeyman series. Worn in feel but not dragged behind a truck. Plus ash and nitro so can't go wrong wit that.

Congrats again, Mr. Crotchton! (still struggle with calling anyone cr0tc#)

Does the neck have the mild V profile as well as worn in? Or was that a different model.

Yeah, I'm no expert on these, but I have been curious to see how a V profile feels. I might like it!

Got bitten by the bug. These 2017 Clapton Strats look great. I like that they have darker necks. Not a bad look on the white one either. Congrats!

looks great, very 50's. two-tone burst, looks like 8 screws on the guard. And the extended forearm and belly cut all look very 50's, small headstock and spaghetti logo.

    That's a really nice guitar.

Thanks Mal. Not huge into relics but admittedly huge into Clapton and his guitars have always been quality. No exceptions here. It's just very comfortable. Neck feels broken in.

hey people talk lots of sht about relics and road worns and stuff, "false mojo" and all that, but I still think the nicest feeling Telecaster I've played (out of like 20) was a Road Worn Tele. And I'll probably get one one day, naysayers be damned. Comfortable is comfortable, and they sound good.

I do laugh though looking at used RW's on Reverb and stuff because the listed conditions will be like: Mint! Excellent! Good! Some Wear!

    :laugh2:

How is it "excellent?" when it's brand new it's beaten up. It's never "mint",..there is no "mint" RW.

    That's a lovely Strat.

I like the way Fender does a "soft V." I have three, and on each one, it's a barely noticeable "V" from the nut until about the fourth fret, and then it's a juicy "C" shape. The "V" portion, such that it is, is perfect for the lower frets. I play mostly chords down there, and it suits the hand nicely. Plus, the soft Vs tend to be a bit thicker than regular necks. I like a nice thick neck these days.

Congrats . The journeyman relics are great guitars . You dont have to worry about dinging it up and the relic job looks realistic. I love the feel of mine. Just like a well used guitar.
