Been wanting once of these for about 2 years but waited out a mint condition one at the right price. Was able to snag this Sunday.

I haven't really gotten to put it through the motions yet. These Clapton guitars are all very consistent though. I expect the same from this. Neck is just as comfy as my other Claptons I've had and still have

Beautiful guitar! One of my favorite color/ wood schemes for a Stratocaster. Happy NGD!

I've learned that the Clapton V-shaped back of the neck isn't my preference, but I have a lot of respect for the instrument and those players who like it. May you spend many happy hours playing it.

Congrats, I haven't seen one in that color before - very nice.

I've heard that the necks on the Claptons are comfy - soft V i think.

Love Dalphine blue and nice collection you have Crotch. I'd say you've got your Clapton bases covered.

Thanks Boss. I'd love to get one (Brownie), however the prices are one of the more insane things I have ever seen. Know anyone that wants to do a 4 for 1 deal, lol.?. I'd rather have that than the Blackie though if I had a choice.

My Sunburst Journeyman Clapton should be here this week. Ordered in frickin January.

To me, it is thee neck on a Strat. The neck and tone controls are what keep me coming back to them.

Nice Clapton collection. I love his music.

But look, the thing about the V just . . .

I just don't get it. I am an intermediate player and usually I try to keep my thumb on the back of the neck and my fingers as perpendicular to the fretboard as possible. When I feel that ridge under my thumb, it's so uncomfortable. It's like sitting on a concrete couch.

So again, if you like it, that's awesome. Sincerely. (One man's trash, another's treasure.) But can you please talk about why you like it? Is there a technique that I'm missing out on that is facilitated or made more confortable by the V?

Oh, and that Crash 1 is awesome. Have you ever posted a thread about it? Would love to hear more about it. Thanks

I think V necks are better if you have larger hands and tend to wrap your thumb over the top, especially for playing single notes with lots of bending. They're not very comfortable if you play with your thumb on the back and slide chords up and down the neck. Just my experience.

    Makes sense, thank you.

    (P. S. Crotch, I swear I'm not trying to hijack your thread, dude.) :acoustic:

I completely agree. I've got a different neck on my strat (early 60's oval "C" shape) but there is something about the width, and depth of the neck that is just perfect.
