As requested by other members of this forum, here's my R9 from 2016. My first Gibson guitar, let alone first Historic Reissue.
Exactly the color I wanted (I liked the blue one from the 2017 range a lot, but no one is selling that). It was pretty hard to come by a Cherry 'burst in the UK. I'm glad I was able to score a guitar with a non-pinstripe, non-chevron flame top. The flame looks a bit less pronounced from some angles, though. So glad I took a trip to Richtone Music in Sheffield!

Nice! And thanks for the pix! I see you worked out how to do it without faffing about with 3rd party hosting.

Glad you found what you wanted even if it did mean schlepping all the way to Sheffield. Now enjoy until your fingertips are black with powdered string :)

Very nice! I also have a 2016 Custom Shop 1959, but I have a Iced Tea VOS. Enjoy!

    Thank you, guys!

Even though it's my first Gibson, that doesn't mean it's my first or second guitar :). When I got into Les Paul type guitars with a certain Japanese manufacturer, I never considered buying a Gibson as I was a J-fan and J-stuff was way cooler to me. But one guitar seller convinced me to try a Gibson Historic, and a new fan was born :). However, I personally would still go Japanese for anything below Gibson custom shop - if not for the quality or specs, then at least for the original Les Paul looks :)

I use Marshall DSL5 combo in 1 watt mode as I currently only play at home :)

Nice! It will get even better when it fades. I love a faded cherry burst.

Now you mention it, I was under the impression that reissues used a UV-stable dye for the tops (unlike the aniline for the neck/body). So the top *won't* fade over time like the originals did. Can anyone confirm (or correct) this?

I think Vic (SCT13) has had some moderate fading results by covering the fretboard and sitting the guitar in direct sunlight for hours and hours.

Excellent choice. They LOVE the DSL on The Marshall Forum.

I hope it doesn't :). I love the top the way it is now :)

Actually, I didn't play it much as I was waiting for my good guitar cable to arrive and only had a 1-meter cable available :). But playing unplugged, it feels good, pretty loud :). I like the guitar that's for sure. However, unfortunately, I think the frets are not 100% level as I tried running a fret rocker type of thing through the fretboard, so I might need to find someone to do that for me. It's not bad as I can barely notice it. I don't think it's a big issue but it's a bit annoying on such an expensive guitar. That's not great news but from reading this forum, it seems like that's a pretty common thing on Historics.
