Here is a Caparison Angelus ACE 24-fret model, in a (not very) Lemon Burst finish. Made in 2001. Quite a rare guitar. It's good to finally get my hands on one!

This is an earlier example of Ace Shimizu's signature model. Later models would feature Floyd Rose trems and hotter pickups.
I would have preferred a transparent black model with the clock fingerboard inlays, but you can't be too picky since so few of these are out there.

Specifications from the old Caparison Japanese website:

    Finish: Lemon Drop

    Neck Joint: Set in Neck
    Head Stock Shape: Angelus
    Head Stock Angle: 15 degrees
    Machine Heads: Gotoh SG30-01

    Neck Material: Mahogany
    Neck Grip: Caparison
    Fingerboard Material: Ebony
    Neck Scale: 24 3/4 inches (628mm)
    Nut width: 43mm
    No. of Frets: 24
    Fret type: Jumbo
    Nut Material: Bone
    Fretboard Inlay Shape/Style: Prayer

    Body Shape: Angelus Arched Top
Body Top Material: Flame Maple Top
    Body Back Material: Mahogany
    Bridge: Gotoh GE-103 B-T
    Tailpiece: Gotoh GE-101 Z-T
    Pickup Neck: Caparison BH-F
    Pickup Bridge: Caparison BH-R
Controls: Master Volume, Master Tone, 3-Way Toggle Switch, Front Pickup Split Mini-Switch & Rear Pickup Split Mini-Switch

    Accessories: Hard Case, Adjustable Wrench

    +1 for Caparison.

Here is my lefty Horus M3 in Solar Flare, with maple board. Only 2 of these exist in the world.

    Thanks guys.
I'm still getting used to the heft of the Angelus, there's a lot of mahogany in there!

That's a grand Horus you have there csplayer089. Have you kept the stock BH-xx pickups?

Soilwork got me interested in Caparison in the first place, it only took me 12 years to finally get one.

The pickups would be my biggest complaint. They are just okay, nothing special.

Currently in the hands of a luthier, being swapped out for DiMarzios, as well as a push-pull volume for splitting.

Do those play as fast as they are reputed to do? Thanks for the posts -- I've never seen one first-hand, ever.

Mmm, I wish that the Angelus had the Caparison 'PH' set of pickups fitted as standard, the later versions of the Ace signature model had them.

Which Dimarzios are you going for?

Not particularly, the finish and thickness of the neck put it in Les Paul-ish territory, so the Angelus isn't their fastest guitar. I haven't got personal experience of playing with the Dellinger, TAT or Horus, but a lot of people say that those models continue the lineage of the fast playing Japanese line of Jackson/Charvel Super Strats. The head guy at Caparison used to design and build at that old factory.

Yes, if I need my daily fix of E-numbers...

Thanks. I could have saved myself a long wait by buying a PRS many moons ago, but hey, I like to get my hands on more obscure stuff.

But I really need to pick up nearby military comms chatter Spinal Tap style!

Wow, why did you not keep them in your collection? A flame top HGS has been on my wanted list forever.

They were fun guitars, but my tastes have just changed a bit over time. They were pretty though!

Oh boy, that HGS brings back memories of listening to Soilwork all the time and doing a lot of research into their gear.
That was quite a duo you had there, where have your tastes taken you now?

I've upgraded the tuners, bridge parts and knobs on mine:

Gotoh SGV510-B07-CK MG-T 18:1 Tuners and other bits and pieces:
