I do like the sound, quite a bit. It's different that the Strat which I also like, for different reasons. I was looking for a different sound without having to use pedals or other effects :)

Congratulations Freejack. That's a sweet guitar.

I've been obsessing about these Tribute's myself- they're an amazing value. I wrote a bunch about them here: Les' Sustain for Days

The Tribute Plus was street-priced around $799 until February when Epiphone reduced the price to $599. The different finishes really shouldn't affect the price, so dunno what was up with the Cherryburst at that store! Epiphone - Epiphone Announces Price Reduction on Top Sellers

Feel good about choosing the Plus over the previous model Tribute. As far I can tell, the differences between the two all favor the Plus: it has the flame top, 14" radius instead of 12", deep-set mortise & tenon joint instead of "traditional dovetail", jumbo instead of medium jumbo frets, and speed knobs instead of hats:
Gibson.com: Epiphone Tribute Les Paul Standard
Gibson.com: Epiphone Les Paul TributeĀ™ Plus
(I'm not sure if there's a difference between "Mother-of-Pearl Trapezoids" and "Acrylic Mother-of-Pearl Trapezoid". Sometimes Gibson is a bit inconsistent in their spec sheets)

The amazing thing about these guitars to me is the quality of the pickups and components. A pair of Gibson USA '57 Classics would run about $300 aftermarket, which is half the cost of the guitar! Grover locking tuners would be about $70. Switchcraft jacks and switch. All the stuff you'd normally have to upgrade- come standard. That just leaves the standard Epi tune-o-matic as a possible upgrade.

Congratulations again! Hope you enjoy it. I'll be posting a NGD post of my own, shortly :)

Ok, and the nut, and straplocks, but otherwise, solid gold for the price, I tell ya! :)
