Ah, go on, be a devil...

Three single coils and a five-way selector with one of those fancy synchronised tremolo thingies.

Oh, and, erm, a tortoiseshell pickguard.

    You know you want too...

Oh God the Goldie is Sexy!! I was originally eyeing up the Black Classic but I decided the other day that I need an 18 Classic Gold Top to add to my collection. Love me some P90's in a carved top LP!!

Sweet GT Chris! I keep looking at the '18 Classics and probably should get one. No Gold Tops at my house.....

Now, the SG? Let your imagination run wild with that one.

    :)

@Christosterone how thin is the neck? Do you have a chunk 50 to compare it?

It’s very similar to all my 60s necks...
Classics “feel” better than others to me...

Compared to 50s it’s most noticeable [by me] playing runs and I hit notes cleaner and faster on a 60s....
I kinda prefer the 50s for chords or when playing rhythmic songs...

It should be noted that my number 1 is a classic so I tend to play it most so being comfortable could explain why I tend to play it “faster”

For instance, if I’m playing paradise city, I want a 50s neck for the intro and all the verse where ur basically slapping the low e, a and d for most of the song...
Then use the classic for the solos...
For Estranged, my playing sounds like cats fighting in an alley for everything...favorite gnr song and one of slash’s only guitar licks that translates perfectly to piano in my brain...
And I utterly cant get any of it right on guitar...

    But I digress...

Love them both but tend towards 60s with heavyish strings when given a choice...

Really nice on both counts, Chris. I am jealous of the Classic. I might need one.

Nice score on the new ones. What are you going to do with the husk? (sorry if I've missed the answer above!)

I don’t knowwith the SG husk....
Missed on buying a 2015 townshend...
It had a friggin 1st fret trap inlay...dammit that haunts me...But the switch made a bigsby impossible...but it was super quirky which I love....the plastics were mismatched...pure perfection...

But I don’t know...not really an SG guy but I want to hear minis in the thinner body...

My other thinking is to do an all gold hw version against the brown…
I can’t find a mini pup ring in gold though which doesn’t have 4 screw mounts...
    So we’ll see...

Anyhow, I’m sorta thinking a vague SG homage to this:

Have you thought about a Maestro with a Vibramate on the SG? :hmm:

    Love maestro...
    Sold...
    Now I have!!!
They are kinda expensive...at least the [very few] I’ve found in gold with Gibson etched on them...

Great idea...think I’m gonna go that route...no pun

Since this has become more about the SG, wanted to let y’all know I’ve ordered everything...

    Gibson deluxe mini humbuckers(quick connect)
Gold covers to replace above stock chrome/nickel
Gold maestro vibrola at @mdubya ‘s suggestion
    Gold Nashville bridge
    Gibson gold speed knobs
    Multiple tuners(haven’t decided)
—Probably going to go Gibson gold with pearl tulip
2015 Gibson SG quick connect board
No pick guard (for now but may add...can’t say yet)

I’m usually a soldered pot but am excited/impatient to get her put together...

Parts should all be in by Monday...

Will post pics as it goes

Intrigued to see how that looks when you’re done!

I’ve never really been much of a fan of the aesthetics of the SG (the two small pointy horns thing just doesn’t quite work for me) but occasionally I spot a combo that looks good and which I can appreciate, even if it’s not really ma thang...!

This will be my only SG...
I wanted a brown guitar and this husk was so reasonable...
Of course, now that I’ve included a maestro and deluxe minis, the cost is going up...

    @scozz , I’m keeping the classic stock...but a bigsby is imminent...can’t help myself
