Trying to hide from the Les Paul Section as I am not allowed to buy any more Les Pauls :laugh2: so I just bought a nice 1993 Gibson SG Special in White.

I havn`t picked it up yet but the white looks kind of nicley "yellowed" over the years and it seems to have an Ebony fretboard :thumb:

    Sweet. :applause: :thumb:

I have a 1991 Special in black. It has 3 knobs, no pickguard, a maple neck, and an ebony fingerboard. As odd as that all seems, it is a great guitar and a tone machine.

That case alone is probably worth whatever you paid for the guitar. Love those cases!

    Thnaks all. :)

So do I, even bought a used one a year or so ago just to have it and used it all the time, no matter what guitar to band practice and gigs. All other cases are just stored in the press :thumb:

It's a nice guitar, I bought my '92 on '93 and I still have it. The hard case is a plus, the Special was sold with a gig bag. The nickel covers are also not original and it has a jet black ebony fretboard. The neck profile is thick, I'm guessing what the company calls a 50's profile. I don't know what type of Klusons used Gibson at the time but there are lower quality than the Klusons I have in two other guitars.

Yes the case is definatly a big plus :thumb:

The PUP covery were put on in 93 when it was origionally bought, the origional receipt is with it.

    That is special.
Not every kid on the block has one of those.
I'm extremely jealous of this one.

Foregot to give a short update

Well got around to picking it up and do some playing. The guitar is in perfect condition and has a perfect setup (was at a shop before he sold it :thumb:)

The pickups sound amazing, really bright and perfect for AC/DC stuff :D

I didn't see this when it was first posted (?!), so congrats Donal!

I'd love to have a whitey SG. Big-time envious here.

So, what is the plan for more wall space? Things are getting dangerously crowded up there.

Are those the original pups with covers put on them? Or are they something else?

    Looks like mine!

I guess they're aftermarket pickups(or covers) for I have seen this model with uncovered pickups only.

Yes they are aftermarket covers. They were put on when he purchased it in 93.
I actually like/prefer it with them so I plan to leave them on.

A quick update on the SG :naughty:

Since I bought it, I hadn`t played it much as it has had to be in it`s case and I tend to pick up one of the ones on the wall or stands.

Anyway, as we now have 2 AC/DC songs in our setlist I decided to take it to band practice for the fun of it and actually playing a SG for those songs.

Damn I was amazed how brilliant it sounded. Also I was also amazed how "different" it sounded. The other guitarist is going to look at some at the weekend :laugh2:

Also for some reason it is not neck heavy :hmm: I also have an Epi SG and it "dives" all the time. :dunno:

And one last great thing, it is so damn lite. It was like having a break :laugh2:

I think it will now be getting a little more play :thumb:
