Took delivery on a 1959 Melody Maker today. All I can is wow! It is original save for the bridge and a strap button on the bottom. Plays great, the neck is wonderful, and it has the mojo of a 58 year old guitar. Even if the guitar was a "student model." Very good condition! In the last photo, it is next to and above the 2009 reissue that I will now be selling. The guitar came with a hard shell SKB case. I don't know if I will get rid of that in favor of a new Gibson case, but I'm suspect that the latter would work for the new MM although the latter is thinner than the Les Paul Standard. I haven't decided on any substantive mods yet, but if anyone wants to suggest a couple that would be great!
