People often give these old Japanese guitars a hard time, but some of them are real gems. This lovely instrument is a perfect example that came across my bench a while back. I've just finished the restoration. Stainless frets, a new nut and some new pots and a capacitor, plus a layer of shielding paint inside, but otherwise kept as before, battle scars and all. It's a beautiful-looking guitar, and now plays like a dream too. Wish it was mine...

Super cool guitar and amazing work as always. Thanks for sharing! I've always wanted one of those old Teiscos.

Too bad you're in Japan. I've got an old early '60s Kent Americana, that needs a good workover.

    Great job!:thumb:

Yes indeed! Good ear...especially with my dodgy playing.

Thanks, man. If you were here, I'd do it for free. You could drop by the workshop, we could grab a couple of beers (unless using power tools - I have a strict no beer rule then) and then hang out and work on it together. There are more than a couple of people who have done that at my place in the last couple of years.

    :cheers2:

Wish I could, but the wife and I are about to take our 4yo son on his first trip to Chicago, and after that, probably not going to be traveling for a long while.

Have a great trip...as for the future, who knows where we'll all be in a few years? You may drop by Tokyo unexpectedly one day.

Thanks so much! I have been playing it and it's great. I'll hang onto it for a while and we'll see what the owner wants to do with it.

just dropped the coin on this Teisco Del Ray ET-300 this morning . bringing it to the luthier's now . needs a total re-fret , and nut . going white with the body . keeping the pickups because they sound amazing !

your thread inspired me __ and I've been thinking about getting one of these for a long time . ( next on my list is a Harmony Bobkat )

bad cellphone pick . the pickup covers are actually chrome , and the pickguard is striped

Dang...that's a beauty! The neck looks very similar to the one I restored. Fantastic!
