The tones I've been getting out of this thing are absolutely killer to my ears. Second Khan is on the way.

Hey John, what's yer opinion of the clean tone? Does the amp have the clean headroom to play with a live drummer?

Jammed with my drummer last night, along with another guitarist ('66 Super Reverb) and a bassist (Ampeg Fliptop 15). This little amp sounded anything but little. It was a small studio room (16x18), but everybody in the room could hear me just fine on both channels. Funny thing is, the second Khan showed up yesterday, so I had two there. Both of them together in their travel cases fit into my backpack that I use for cables, pedals, strings & tools. I have been converted. Love it.

Congrats, John! I've been wondering what took so long to get great guitar amps in a small box. Bass players have had them for years.

How do you describe the clean tones, i.e. creamy, chimey? Would you feel confident with this mic'ed in a large room?

Creamy for the way I like to run it. It'll do chime just fine, but with a shared eq section, the voicing of the dirt channel will be chimely affected.

Like anything that's mic'd, sound quality depends on everything in the chain from the mic to the speakers along with the quality of the person running the P.A. Too many variables to answer that question with confidence.

Fair enough! If I were buying (big if on my budget) I’d be looking to replace my VOX which I use as a clean amp and platform for pedals.

How well does it do low (at home) volume, John?

They've been really killer at all volumes. I keep one at my drummer's and one here. I've been goosing the lead channel lately with a BYOC BluesBreaker clone for some over-the-top saturated leads and it just rips. I replaced the OEM 12AX7's last week with 6N4's and these little guys got a little more smoother and quieter.

All I know is that the singer in this video actually sounds like I'd imagined David Lee Roth sounding in his older age.
