The truss rod cover is a little crooked but I don't think its a fake because of that, I think someone had it off and didn't put it back on properly, which makes me think is there any damage to the truss rod.

Ive just checked the serial number and it came back with this,
Your guitar was made at the
    Samick Plant, Korea
    on September, 2002
    Production Number: 12483

What are general thoughts on these guitars? I only know Squier guitars and have never even played an Epiphone let alone owned one. Is there any way to find out this guitars speck?

I picked it up for £118, it seems to be fairly good quality, heavy, a but dusty, Grover tuners, I haven't played it through an amp yet but so far so good.

Thank you, Ive had a play and its really not what I expected, Its very loud compared to my Tele, its brilliant at playing rock type music, very enjoyable. Im glad I took a chance on it, its a good solid guitar, easy to play, nice action, well set up, I reckon Im going to have fun with it. The strings are as old as the guitar but apart from that I cant fault it.

Thank you. The truss rod cover was indeed put on crooked at the factory, Noticeably so, how could something like this have passed Qc? Also there is a lot of blooming in the finish where the Epiphone logo is, I wonder if this is a factory second? Would Epiphone have sold factory seconds? To my untrained eyes everything else looks legit. Epi branded pickups, hardware looks to be good quality, neck looks nice and straight, decent quality tuners, its puzzling. To be fair the stickers on the back of the headstock look quite new for a 2002 guitar. First off congrats. Stay off that other site...they know not what they talk of. The Korea made Epiphones are widely regarded as some of the best ever made so that's a nice little score you got. Give it a good cleaning and set up and u got a winner. Others here are more expert on your Korean model so take their advice. The logo is just part of age and usually happens on nitro finished gibsons in just few years

    HNGD! :thumb:

Going by what's been said about your guitar so far, I'd say the specs would look like this...

I'm sure @paruwi will let me know if I got it wrong :)

Just being nosey - was it a local auction you got the guitar from? Or a specialist musical one? Never been to an auction, and would like to try it...

    I think you're over analyzing!.
Really nice looking piece that plays well and cleaned up nice for not a lot of change.
Sounds like a win, win, win to me.
New strings, get your tone adjusted and bingo.
    You did good.
    Sit back and enjoy.

Looks like it has a long neck tenon too. Samick usually makes a decent product.
