I remember seeing these in the late 1970's, in a local music shop, where it remained unsold for about 2 years...I remember it as being some sort of blue, and I see the originals for sale for around $4000...I have NEVER seen one actually being played or knew anyone who owned one...but they are back...

For some reason these things fascinate me, and I am thinking about putting one on the old credit card...

Anyone have one or know someone who has one? Opinions?

I have owned a few Fenders- Telecasters, Strats and a Tele Bass- over the last 40 years, but this one is something I missed...I'm wondering if I should try one...

I do understand there are NO cases or even gig bags with these...not a great thing, IMO...

I can't get past the head stocks. The rest of the guitar is pretty sweet though.

    The headstock ruins it. Yuck.

Headstock is awful, not too crazy about the body shape. I just am not a big fan of it. But thats me.

I have one, basic Black...GREAT sounding, great playing and very comfortable...and I love that it annoys people just by being...much like myself...:)

FWIW: Warmoth makes bodies for these. You can build custom Starcaster from the ground up (and avoid the stock headstock in the process). This is something I've wondered about this for a while now. I love the body shape, because it's different. I hate the headstock... because it's different. :dunno:

I love mine...loud enough unplugged that you can play it like that, and very comfortable sitting or standing...but I wonder if Fender already discontinued them...see nothing on them anymore...Hmmmmmm

Just a demo...the black one is just like mine...

Oh, yeah...this one, too...Greg Koch does his thing..

Greg Koch called it an elven tool of war. Then later in his video, a breadcutter. LOL.

Woke up about 5:30, start34ed playing my black Starcaster. Love it. I will be selling most of my Epiphones and a few Gibsons because it replaces them and does a great job of it...And Fender still makes and sells them - $699...

FWIW, see a video of The Killers for a Starcaster live on stage.
