That'll be a fun place to visit, I imagine, for us hobbyists too! Great idea, Alex.

Hmm...just noticed this here :) I wouldn't call myself a luthier (more of a hack?) but I would also be down for this :D

Looks excellent, but what will be the effect on the good old Luthier's Corner?

I think it will evolve into a more technical and in depth discussion of build techniques and tradecraft. I see comments in LC about explanations being too complicated or too deep. I think this will give those of us who really dig the details a place to talk about things at a deeper level, without boring everyone else.

Business discussions and how to operate a custom shop profitably or effeciently aren't topics that get much attention in LC. This information can make or break a new luthier trying to build his business, but talking about it in front of potential customers can leave the wrong impressions. If I'm building a business, I'm going to have questions that only someone in the trenches can answer. This information isn't about the nuts and bolts of building a guitar, but more about being a good businessman. Outside opinions from customers and end users are good, but builders and sellers are the ones trying to make a living doing this. I think this new forum could pool those ideas together for the budding luthier or anyone building his business.

I think it will make LC even better, in the end.

Pretty much what Tommy said, and this *is* a Les Paul forum and as such I always feel kinda weird about posting the stuff that I build around here. I love the idea of there being a forum dedicated to general luthiery. Plus, the core user base is pretty much the Luthier Corner guys anyway ;)

    Yeah, that's right!

Anyway, is the LuthierTalk site for hobbyist, too?
Wouldn't call myslelf a luthier I guess and compare myself to the real professionals from here.

A forum for general luthiery is nice though!

Always liked this LC place (so much!) ... so I have mixed feelings what'll happen with the place here. Actually I'd like to stay, but I could miss some hot stuff from over at the LT?

Well, I've joined, but I'm feeling the stress of posting both here and there. I'm not a two-forum kinda guy, I guess. May have to choose one or the other! :hmm:

I like the idea of the place and it has great stuff there, but MLP seems to be a more vital environment at present simply because so many players (rather than mostly builders) are here and bring a really different perspective. I suppose we'll see how it evolves...

I also have mixed feelings towards posting on two quite similar forums, but I guess I'll adapt. :D

It just takes me awful lot of time to post something, because first I don't feel I have anything to add to conversations... After I find something to add, I tend to write couple rows of text and delete everything and repeat that ritual about six times before I finally hit the "post" button.
And now I have to do that twice.:laugh2:

[I edited this only 4 times, must be a record. :naughty:]

After you post something on one site, click the edit button then copy/paste to a new thread on the other forum ;)
