Happy New Year fellow Les Paul Owners, and Aloha from Hawaii! After 30+ years of playing, I finally took the leap and purchased a Les Paul. It is a 2018 Exclusive Studio Shred with a Floyd Rose in Satin Black! I always wanted a Les Paul, but the price has always eluded me, and I prefer guitars with a Floyd on it. There was absolutely no way I could afford an Axxess, but always wanted a Les with a Floyd (sorry to all of the purist's out there...that's just me ) Now, although I am pretty happy with the guitar, it did not start out that way. Basically, what was delivered to me was an unplayable guitar, not what I expected considering what i paid for it. I bought a PRS SE last year for almost half the price of this one, and it was plug and play right out of the box. Not this guy: -intonation was way off -neck needed some relief -bridge was badly pitching towards the nut -spring tension needed major adjusting -action was way off I normally setup my guitars myself, and always give a brand new guitar the "once over", so after a few hours of having to setup the guitar, it now plays like butter! Setup with Ernie Ball Hybrid slinky 9's to 10's, with a GK-3 pickup installed ( more apologies to the purists ) I love the black hardware and satin finish. The RichLite fingerboard plays smooth and fast, and the neck feels so comfortable in my hand. The pickups sound awesome, and I have no intent of upgrading them anytime soon. The Split coil options add additional tonal voices to this already huge sounding guitar. Guitar was completed 9/27/18. The paint still smells fresh! Although there were some issues not expected with a guitar in this price range, some initial work got it to where it is a great playing guitar. I am so stoked to have finally added a Les Paul to my collection!
