after spending some time playing this EPI V. the only things i'll be changing are the pots and the strings.

i quite like the pick ups to be fair, seem great for cleans and hard rock.

the pots suck ass in my opinion. but they're the only **** part i can find on the thing.

Aren't these the same ones that came out a few years back with the same old Epiphone pickups?:hmm:

yes, I have the 09 model and they are alnico classics. I play mostly metal and I thought I will have to replace the pickups... but to my surprise they sound great! better than my explorer with the 500T... its just so damn hot, almost too much if I may say so

The new ones have Alnico Classic Pro PUs. They are much better than the original Alnico Classics.

Ooops they are called the Classic PLUS, not pro.

From the link in the OP:

The new Ltd. Ed. Korina Explorer is made from Korina and finished in Antique Natural. The neck has a classic "1960's" SlimTaper™ D-Profile, a 24.75" scale, and features the Explorer's trademark headstock with a 60s era "Epiphone" script logo. The Ltd. Ed. Korina Explorer is powered by an Alnico Classic™ in the neck position and an overwound Alnico Classic Plus™ in the bridge position. Controls include individual volume controls for each pickup and a master tone, all with vintage-style Black "Top Hat" knobs. The Explorer's gold hardware includes legendary GroverĀ® Mini-Rotomatic™ machine heads with a 14:1 ratio for fast and reliable tuning and a LockTone™ Tune-o-matic bridge and StopBar tailpiece.

The Classic Plus is a better pickup. I had one in my old Epi 339 I foolishly sold.

I think you are wrong, the plus has nothing to do with being a better pickup, its just like the 57 and 57+ from gibson, the plus indicating that it's hotter. The 2009 and the 2016/2017 models have the same pickups, and yes they are pretty darn good (imho anyways)

Well if you thought the originals were weak and lacked sizzle, than the plus would be a better pickup, wouldn't it?

I replaced the ones in my '98 with Burstbucker #1s.... who says the bridge pickup has to be hotter than the neck anyway? That, some new pots and a Russian PIO cap and it rocks, which is why it's #2 only to my #1 '01 R8
