Huge Jackson fan here too welcome! L.P.'s are great too so great choice you made, very pretty studio.
Hi Annie! Great to have another lady on board. Please stay out of the Backstage if you wish to hold on to any respect you may have for us guys who post there. Harmony, Napsack and Nicpole Rose do a pretty good job, but they're tough!!
Welcome to MLP. Annie are you OK? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWucYbAp8Lk"]Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal - YouTube[/ame]
Nothing wrong with the Valvetronix amps. I keep an AD120 VTH around for gigs where I need a broad range of tones and for me it sounds great for certain sounds. I had an AD50 VT similar to yours that I upgraded with a Celestion G12 T-75 speaker (as well as a no name chinese 12AX7 that came stock in my BK Butler pedal). It was like night and day from the Celestion 70 Eighty that came stock. Found the speaker for dirt cheap on Ebay. Worth a look if you are not happy with the tone. The stock speaker is selected due to the fact that it's flat response allows it to better match some of the amp models, but being so flat makes it sound - well - flat. I also found it to be quite bright compared to the G12. Usually I'm not a fan of the T-75 but it really sings in these amps. Taking the back panel off also helped a lot to open up the sound and get more projection out of it live. If on the other hand the stock speaker in yours is a Neodog ignore the previous advice as those are incredible speakers! There's a great forum for these amps at Valvetronix.net : Accueil - lots of good info on upgrading and maintaining these amps. They also have a library of settings that users have posted. Again, welcome to the forum and have fun catching up on all the threads!
